Position Summary
The Global Center on Cooperative Security (Global Center) https://www.globalcenter.org is seeking a part-time Communications Associate to support a small, close-knit, multinational nonprofit organization to research, develop, and track communications initiatives as the organization embarks on our new phase of growth. The successful candidate will work primarily with the Communications Coordinator to expand messaging across the different pillars of the Global Center’s work and support the fundraising and programmatic outreach efforts, including various in-person and virtual events. The part-time position is for 20 hours per week, with a schedule being agreed upon before hire. The Communications Associate will work in a hybrid model, with the option to work in the Washington DC or New York Office.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Communications Coordinator to develop messaging and social media campaigns around the programs being implemented across all Global Center work.
- Assist in developing communications content for fundraising activities and campaigns.
- Help generate content for use on Global Center’s various external platforms, such as the organization’s website, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Constant Contact, etc.
- Track, collect, and analyze data on communications content from emails, social media, website, etc.
- Support the logistics for in-person and virtual events where appropriate.
- Assist the Communications Coordinator in various internal communications tasks, such as contact management.
- Identify news and publications that are timely and related to Global Center work to serve as references and resources to improve messaging and content.
- Be willing to contribute to other assigned tasks, as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in communications, public relations, or similar field.
- Timely, proactive, well-organized, and with a fine attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Forms)
- Ability to work independently at times and meet specific deadlines.
- Solid knowledge of social media platforms such as X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram.
- Strong English writing and speaking skills are required.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively and to work well in a team environment.
- Exceptional research skills.
- Professional and positive attitude.
- Must be able to work 20 hours per week; flexible between 9:00am and 6:00pm, Monday-Friday.
- Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the Global Center.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications
- Experience with any basic design programs and other photo editing software.
- Understanding of WordPress and website development.
- Familiar with HubSpot and/or Salesforce.
- Experience with using online marketing software such as Constant Contact.
Salary Range
The hourly range for this position is $20 - $30 commensurate with experience.
