Qualifications: High School Diploma with experience in event planning
Associate Degree in related area preferred
Minimum of three (3) years' experience in office environment with complex duties preferred
Equivalent combination of experience and education
Special Requirements:
Possess and maintain a SC Driver's License or ability to provide own transportation
Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings

Responsible To: Director of Communications
Job Goal:The Communications Administrative Assistant, under moderate supervision of the Director of Communications, performs intermediate and complex administrative support work with limited decision making discretion. Employee serves as the point of contact for general school district questions related to the Communications/Public Information Department. Employee supports and contributes to the overall goal of the Office of Communication to develop and execute a comprehensive and strategic communications effort for multiple audiences that publicizes the district's educational programs, student-focused initiatives, strategic goals, and vision.
Essential Functions:
- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
- Coordinate, collaborate, plan, and implement special events/recognitions/projects as assigned
- Plan, coordinate, and collaborate with district departments and schools to compile, design, publish, and distribute the district employee directory
- Serve as bookkeeper for the department adhering to established local and state protocols/requirements
- Collaborate, organize, and manage administrative meetings as assigned/required
- Manage assigned calendars/appointments/mileage logs for office staff
- Seek and coordinate local business sponsorships for various programs
- Review and ensure the accuracy of outgoing correspondence, records and/or reports of complex, procedural or program activities
- Manage office workplace supplies, inventory, and operations
- Collaborate with director to develop, plan, and implement budget management strategies that include generating budget reports using district adopted software as needed/required
- Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations
- Respond to all mediums of inquiry in a timely and professional manner
- Perform related work as assigned or required

- General knowledge of principles and practices of public schools
- General knowledge of required records preparation, including bookkeeping and maintenance of financial records

- Ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor, and evaluate new and/or current programs
