Position Overview:
The Strategic Sourcing Specialists plays a key role in implementing the Global Strategic Sourcing Strategy for the Commodities under his/her responsibility. Along with that Strategy, responsibilities include: Sending out "Requests for Quotes"
Analyzing Data Negotiating Price
Payment Terms
Freight Terms
Stocking Programs
Formal Contracts all in accordance with Companies' Goals and Objectives
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist reports to the Director, Global Strategic Sourcing, and will be located in the Wheeling, IL facility. You will work directly with the cross functional departments at your location including, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Materials, Finance, and Safety.
Job Responsibilities:
- Establish Strategic Plan for Key Commodities
- Manage all RFQ's with Suppliers to Timely Completion
- Negotiate Contracts, Price, Freight, Payment Terms, and Stocking Programs
- Visit Top 10 Suppliers Annually as well as New Suppliers for Qualification and Approval
- Monitor Supplier Performance Monthly and Address Root Causes for Corrective Action
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 Years' Experience in Strategic Sourcing and Procurement
- Minimum of 5 Years' Experience in a Manufacturing Environment
- Experience in Negotiating with Suppliers to establish a "win/win environment."
- Experience in a "Low Volume/High Mix" Environment.
- Experience in International Sourcing
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Strong business acumen and experience in problem solving, root cause, and corrective action.
- Effective communication follow up skills
- Strong Microsoft Office Skills - Excel and Word
- Ability to Multi Task and Manage Multiple Projects at the same time.
- Experience in an Oracle ERP Environment.
Education and Certification Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Science, or Engineering.
- Master's degree desirable
- C.P.M. or APICS certification desirable
Travel Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, with most travel expected in the early phases of projects.
- Required travel of up to 20% of the time both domestically and internationally.
