Summary/Objective
The Applications Engineer will program, setup and process parts while maintaining communication with Engineering, Quality, Production, Maintenance, Applications Co-Workers, and support staff.

Essential Functions

  1. Develop, implement, and modify CNC mill, Lathe, and Swiss machine programs (Fanuc, Mazatrol, G Code)
  2. Pursue cycle time reduction to make programs efficient and reduce wasted time
  3. Program long hand to make modifications
  4. Effectively utilize GibbsCam and Solid Works
  5. Quickly and efficiently set up and complete first-off samples
  6. Install, set up, and qualify metal cutting processes on lathes, mills, and Swiss turn machines
  7. Ability to troubleshoot related problems
  8. Install, set up, and qualify fixtures and work holding for Lathes and Mills
  9. Manage turnkey machining projects from start to finish
  10. Work with Engineering, Sales, and Management to provide cycle time estimates for quotes, job costing and concepts for new and existing projects
  11. Interact with Maintenance Department to troubleshoot machine issues
  12. Utilization of machine tool manuals, technical documents, internal and vendor resources to research machine issues

Work Environment
This job operates on a manufacturing plant floor as well as in a plant office environment. This role routinely uses CNC Mills, Lathes and Swiss Turn machines as well as standard office equipment.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This would require the ability to stand and walk on concrete floors, lift, climb, stoop, bend or stand on a platform as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and must work a minimum of 40 hours each week.

Travel
Limited travel is expected for this position. (Less than 10%)

Required Education and Experience

1. 5 years of background and experience in CNC Lathe/Mill programming and setup

2. Background and experience in Swiss turn setup and programming

3. Ability to utilize GibbsCam and SolidWorks and to input information into documents created in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

4. 5 years of experience with tool selection

5. Knowledge and troubleshooting of CNC controls; specifically Mazatrol, Fanuc, and Siemens

6. Ability to work without direct supervision and to provide routine reports to upper management

7. Ability to use industrial tools and equipment such as mechanical hand tools, power drills, taps, grinders, drill presses, bench grinders, etc.

8. Must be mechanically inclined with ability to read and understand drawings

3. Positive attitude and desire to learn new technology

4. Must possess verifiable and steady work history.

5. Associate’s degree is preferred
