Job Description
MISO’s Cloud Engineer is responsible for building and monitoring critical platform services in Microsoft Azure used to monitor and manage the Midwest power gird. As our Cloud Engineer, you will work on developing the platform strategy to securely manage and scale consumption of Azure cloud services in a highly regulated environment. You will take account of the current state of the MISO Azure environment, review any policy violations and issues that occur, and after addressing those issues, work on automation processes within the environment. This includes the deployment of new Azure Policies, code-based deployments of services, and scripting new automation. - Collaborate with business and technology partners across the organization to enhance the Microsoft Azure Platform
- Create and maintain processes and procedures as they relate to compliance requirements
- Implement organization wide controls and monitoring to ensure security and compliance
- Collaborate with architects, database engineers, and other software developers in conceptualizing, initiating, and developing new software programs and applications in a PaaS environment
- Translate business requirements into project or design plans
- Create integration solutions that can successfully connect multiple systems within the environment and meet requirements
- Work in supporting Azure AD, ADFS, and applications that integrate with those products including the Microsoft 365 platform
To be successful as MISO’s Cloud Engineer, we are looking for the following skills and experience:
- Strong experience using Terraform
- Proficient in various languages writing Terraform and PowerShell scripts
- Azure Policy Implementation and Azure Blueprint Implementation
- Strong familiarity with web related technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures) and of network/web related protocols
- Automation and Deployment of IaaS compute instances
- Cloud Monitoring platforms (EventHub, Azure Monitor, App Insights, etc.)
- Strong Understanding of Network principles
- Understanding of GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Actions
- Understanding of Azure AD and the accompanying Microsoft SaaS platform
Technical Capabilities (Preferred):
- Knowledge of Azure Machine Learning Studio
- Strong Understanding of Windows OS and Linux RedHat OS
- Understanding of Azure Data Lake
- Understanding of Kubernetes
Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
