Our team of seven Boiler Operators enjoy the stability of a job in healthcare. This is more than a typical Boiler Operator position. Of course, you’ll operate and maintain boilers, chillers and mechanical equipment. You also get to work with control systems for our air handlers and the pneumatic tube system that moves materials like documents and medications throughout the hospital. You’ll be responsible for three high-pressure boilers: One 35,000 lb./hour and two 25,000 lb./hour.
Shifts are rotating generally every-other month; 5a-5p one month and 5p-5a the other month. Seven days (84 hours: 80 + 4 overtime hours) every two weeks. There are also three relief operators that normally work 40 hours pers week on day shift and fill in as needed on other shifts.
This work is also important to ensure that strict temperature standards are upheld in areas where highly sensitive medical equipment is used and stored.
Starting wage effective March 3, 2024 is $38.21/hr
Requirements:
- One (or more) of the following boiler licenses is required
- Engineer 1st Class A
- Engineer 1st Class B
- Chief Engineer Class A
- Chief Engineer Class B
- Valid Minnesota driver’s license and driving record in good standing required
- Three or more years of experience operating high pressure boilers and associated equipment
- Ability to read and understand building drawings, manufacturing drawings, operator manuals, and other associated literature required
- Ability to use a computer required
- Knowledge of building temperature control systems preferred
- Knowledge of work order systems preferred
