St. David’s Church and Day School is located in the Roland Park neighborhood of the city of Baltimore; our current building on Roland Avenue was built in 1906. We are an Episcopal parish, a member of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, part of The Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion, led by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Church of England. We also have a thriving Day Pre-School.
The Sexton is responsible for maintaining a clean and well-maintained environment for those who utilize the facility for worship, school, meetings and other events. This position must proactivity anticipate everything that needs to be taken care of for the smooth operation of all involved. Qualified candidates will be contacted directly.
Responsibilities:
· While this is a full-time position, hours are flexible based on the needs of the parish. Weekend and holiday hours are required.
· Maintain yearly, monthly, weekly and daily cleaning and maintenance schedules for the entire church property.
· Coordinate with the Day School Director and their needs during the school day.
· Identify and work with the Buildings and Grounds Committee to identify short-term and long-term repairs and major maintenance items.
· Operates various mechanized cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, polishers, buffers, etc.
· Responsible for disposal of trash, waste, and other disposable materials.
· Must handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc.
· Empty trash containers daily.
· Mops/vacuums floors in all rooms and bathrooms daily.
· Clean washbasins, mirrors, commodes, urinals, and showers daily.
· Clean kitchens as needed.
· Report any needed repairs immediately to Parish Administrator and the Buildings & Grounds Committee (such as leaky faucets or toilets, loose tile, broken window panes, missing nuts or screws, etc.). Coordinate and manage outside contractors if such repairs can’t be completed in-house.
· Order and maintain janitorial supplies as needed
· Set-up and break -down furniture requirements for parish events as needed.
· Coordinate and monitor all regularly scheduled contractors and vendors.
· Interact with parishioners and other constituents in a professional manner.
Requirements:
The Sexton should have 1-2 years of experience in facility management, housekeeping or a related area. Experiencing supporting a religious organization is preferred. Must have their own vehicle and a valid Maryland drivers license. This position demands good physical and mental health. The Sexton will be required to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull and work a flexible schedule, must be able to move continuously during work hours and able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
