Job description

Overview:
This is a remote position – incumbents, who reside in Oregon or Washington only. There may be occasional situations that require work to be performed on-site at an assigned Legacy Health location.

All new hires are required to come to a designated Legacy Health office location in Portland, Oregon prior to their start date for a new hire health assessment and to complete new hire paperwork. This position may require initial training and orientation to be site-based, before transitioning to the remote schedule.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Grants Officer serves as a key development team member and leader in reaching established fundraising goals and empowering care innovations across sites and service lines.

This role engages deeply with internal stakeholders and funder and foundation representatives, identifying grant opportunities and supporting project development throughout the Legacy Health system. Responsibilities include managing an annual portfolio of funder prospects capable of making principal ($250,000+) and major gifts ($25,000+), prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Works with Legacy leaders, trustees, and physicians on long-term grant approach strategies. Prepares contact reports and appropriate follow-up materials in consultation with communications department. Works closely with philanthropy and hospital leadership to steward system-wide and transformative programmatic gift opportunities through the process of project development, project approval, grant solicitation, implementation, and stewardship.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in business, communications or liberal arts.

Experience:
Minimum of eight years of experience in fundraising, major gift fundraising, and grant writing. Experience managing multiple elements of a comprehensive fundraising program is preferred.
