Childcare Mental Health Worker 1St, 2Nd & 3Rd Shift

Hoffman Homes is a community of employees gathered on one campus to help children understand and manage their Mental Health diagnosis.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Education, within the Mental Health field and/or experience working with children, is desired but not required.
• Strong desire to help an at-risk group of children.
• Requires the ability to stay active, make good decisions within a busy environment and maintain a calm demeanor while working with an emotional child.
• Requires strong ethics and accountability.
• Must be able to complete clear and legible documentation.

Duties

• Full Time MHWs start at $18.00/hr
• 1st Shift 2 Days: 6:30A - 2:30P, 2 days 6:30A - 6:30P
• 2nd Shift: 12:30P-10:30P
• 3rd Shift: 2 days 6:30P - 6:30A, 2 days 10:30P - 6:30A
• Full-time MHWs are scheduled 4 days in a row and may be scheduled for some hours additional hours as needed.
• The Mental Health Worker (MHW) is a direct-care / counselor position to children.
• Supervise the children in care and are responsible for their safety.
• Guide the children through their daily routines and activities while documenting events and observations specific to each child.
• Teach and model appropriate social skills and coping skills to the children.
• Provide support for children who may be experiencing feelings of anxiety and depression or struggling with anger management. The MHW is
• Responsible for communicating pertinent information to the child’s therapist so that treatment can be properly assessed.

Hoffman Homes for Youth is a private, non-profit, psychiatric residential treatment facility for emotionally and behaviorally troubled children located just outside Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The principles of trauma-informed care are applied. Psychiatrists, therapists, and direct-care staff (Mental Health Workers & Mental Health Aides) provide comprehensive psychiatric care and behavioral health treatment to children and their families. Creative therapies (Pet, Music, Horsemanship, and Art) are utilized as alternative methods of building healthy emotional connections. An on-site school, The Hoffman Academy, allows for an attentive educational program combined with a therapeutic component.'
