JOB TITLE: Mental Health Worker / Residential Aide: (12am-8am)
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Exempt Full-Time
DEPARTMENT: Catholic Social Services, Women of Hope - Vine
Housing & Homeless Services Division
REPORTS TO: Kitchen Manager
DIRECT REPORTS: NONE
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
An awake overnight shift that provides a safe environment for the residential community. Make sure residents are always accounted for and the building is secure. Attends to the cleaning and personal care needs of the residents. Ensure residents are treated with dignity and respect and that their needs are addressed in accordance with professional standards of Catholic Social Services.
SUPERVISED BY: Food Service Director
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Communicates regularly between shifts, receiving report from the shift before and giving the report to the shift coming in
* Reads from the follow up and log books and includes entries as necessary
* Does general cleaning in the house (see work check list)
* Does laundry nightly of kitchen towels
* Assists with any personal care needs of the women
* Makes hourly rounds for safety (shared with 2nd staff person-rotate rounds)
* Answers the phone and door
* Able to handle emergencies
* Prepares breakfast, cleans up and supervises the kitchen
* Assists with the execution of fire drills
* Attends staff meetings, supervisory sessions and makes use of in-service opportunities,
particularly those needed to comply with PCH licensing
* Completes any tasks necessary for the smooth running of the house and/or as directed by the Program Director
REPRESENTATIVE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
* High school graduate/GED
* Has desire, interest, and ability to work well with others including residents with severe
and persistent mental illness who have been homeless
* Works well with others; is flexible and hospitable
* Holds a current certificate in CPR and First Aid or willing to obtain and a Safe Food Handling Certificate
* Has completed the Direct Care Staff Person Training Course/Test online and has submitted the certificate
* Has or will complete the state's med administration training and WOH training in order to be qualified to distribute medications.
