Description:

Derecktor Shipyards is seeking a high caliber and well qualified Chief Operating Officer (COO) to serve as a member of the company’s management team. The COO will be expected to provide strong leadership and direction for the complete operations of the company. The COO will also be responsible for monitoring and optimizing performance metrics, resolving operational challenges, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Our ideal candidate has experience in the maritime industry and a track record of strategic leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

These shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

• Establish and implement current and long term goals, objectives, plans, and policies to facilitate successful day-to-day operations and support future growth.
• Develop a culture of continuous improvement and constructive dissatisfaction with established standards.
• Foster a progressive culture of diversity and inclusion that looks to the future in all aspects.
• Able to attract, select, and lead talent to build high functioning teams to success.
• Build trust between team members and delegate responsibility to the lowest levels.
• Find technical solutions and integrate them into processes to expedite workflows and reduce inefficiencies.
• Make key decisions based on system expert recommendations and data analytics.
• Work cross functionally within the management team to drive sustainable profitability and long-term growth.
• Communicate openly and clearly throughout the company
• Work alongside the CFO to provide an accurate view of company financials, profit/loss, inefficiencies, and opportunities.
• Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.)
• Cultivate strong business relationships with partners/vendors/subcontractors
• Collaborate with executive team to develop and execute strategic initiatives and projects

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proven ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve outstanding results
• Strong knowledge of shipyard operations
• Ability to travel to other locations as necessary
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
• Analytical skills to effectively manage and interpret data

Required Qualifications:

• Strong business planning and operations management skills
• Experience in finance and budgeting
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Experience in shipbuilding or marine industry is a plus

Minimum Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marine Engineering or related field
• MBA or other relevant advanced degree is preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $130,000.00 per year
