Little Leaf Farms (“LLF”) is the #1 indoor leafy greens brand in the USA. We utilize high-tech greenhouses and extensive automation to deliver locally-grown lettuce year round that tastes better, lasts longer, and is better for the environment. We are vertically-integrated, and as such our business model includes the design, construction, and operations of “farms of the future”, while simultaneously implementing a multi-channel commercial strategy and building a national CPG brand.
Our country’s leafy greens supply chain is facing many challenges:
- >95% of all leafy greens are grown on the West Coast and shipped thousands of miles across the country, which generates significant food miles and increases food waste across the value chain
- There are material water availability issues in those growing regions due to drying aquifers and dropping river levels
- Outdoor growing can increase occurrences of food safety issues, as shown with the many E.Coli outbreaks (and other pathogens) emerging in West Coast lettuce production over the last 5 years
Little Leaf delivers a fresher, higher-quality product that reduces food miles, food waste, and the burden on fragile West Coast water systems, while creating a more resilient food system.
Little Leaf was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in Greater Boston, with facilities located in MA, PA, and additional sites coming soon. Our customers include almost every major retailer in the Northeast along with over 1,000 restaurants. We are entering an exciting stage of growth. We grew our sales 85% in 2023 to ~$100M with ~50% national market share. We have raised significant capital from blue-chip investors to support further nationwide expansion and accelerate our growth. In contrast to many businesses in our industry, we are profitable and generate cash flow to fund our expansion.
