Job description

Knight -Swift Transportation is now hiring for a Chief Information Officer! Our CIO is responsible for leading the IT team, and recommending, developing, and implementing innovative IT strategies aligned to achieve organizational goals. In this role, you will work collaboratively with enterprise stakeholders as well as serve as subject matter expert and partner to other brands to enhance operational efficiencies. You will have the unique opportunity to coordinate technology strategy, sharing of best practices and delivery of enterprise risk management and compliance solutions. The ideal candidate for this position will possess a Master’s Degree in Technology, Computer Science or related studies. They will have 12 + years of progressive IT experience and 4 years of experience leading a mid to large size IT team. In addition, candidates must have a proven track record of engaging and partnering with stakeholders of all levels to ensure alignment with current and long-term business goals; ability to motivate and influence diverse teams; ability to transfer knowledge of difficult concepts or practices with various audiences; ability to source critical talent, train and develop; ability to oversee IT projects from conception to completion, delivering completed solutions on time and within budget.

Job Responsibilities: What you will do
To serve as the primary technology advisor for the company. Provide the overall leadership of the information technology endeavors undertaken to support the goals of all KNX businesses on multiple platforms.

  • Oversee all information technology under the KNX umbrella, ensuring assigned areas are appropriately staffed and operating within budget constraints.
  • Provide a visionary road map for KNX IT that provides innovative solutions for all businesses and brands and ensure integration with overall IT and enterprise strategic plans.
  • Ensure assigned employees have career development plans that provide the organization with strong bench strength for future leaders and specialized individual contributors.
  • Collaborate with other executives, department heads, and key stakeholders to understand their technology needs and priorities.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and communication to align IT initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Develop technical aspects of the company's strategy to ensure alignment with its business goals. Communicate the company's technology strategy to all levels of employees and board members.
  • Oversee enforcement of policies and procedures to protect KNX's sensitive information and data assets from security threats, breaches, and cyberattacks.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure and ensure systems are secure, reliable, and scalable to meet current and future needs.
  • Oversee all IT vendor relationships ensuring selected vendors deliver value and meet agreed-upon standards.
  • Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.

Qualifications: What you need to bring

  • 12+ years of directly related experience required.
  • 4+ years of people leadership experience required.
  • Previous experience in transportation industry preferred.
  • Bachelor's in related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
  • Master's preferred.
  • Must possess an understanding of strategic business objectives and the ability to drive results toward those objectives.
  • Must possess proven ability to collaborate, build relationships and influence individuals at all levels.
  • Must possess strong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate effectively with technical staff, business stakeholders, executive management and board members.
  • Must possess high levels of personal integrity when conducting the professional affairs of the organization and dealing with sensitive and confidential data relating to risks and cost.


Pay Range:
$187,500.00 - $262,500.00 Annual
