We Are Seeking
Team Gilbert is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Chief Technology Officer to join our team and bring the IT department to the next level through being an exceptional people leader that can connect at all levels, prioritizing strategic direction, and providing planning and operational oversight to several department divisions, including Customer Care, Infrastructure, Courts, and Public Safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:
  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership to functional divisions, as well as the entirety of the IT team. Model the Town values and build a team culture that is reflective of organizational expectations.
  • Work closely with Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to oversee multiple high-profile initiatives in partnership with top-tier technology companies and regional public sector partners.
  • Solicit, assess, and onboard strategic technology vendor partnerships.
  • Mentor and develop staff to build skills and capabilities for the future growth of the department. Provide mentoring, feedback and guidance to enhance our personnel capabilities.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully engage all stakeholders. Demonstrate active listening, ensure clarity, check for understanding and show an openness to feedback.
  • Possess strong written communication skills. Create clear, concise, and compelling written communications. Responsible for technical documentation, communications to staff, leadership and council, and business communications.
  • Ability to articulate the impact of the customer and infrastructure experience to executives, senior leaders, and Town stakeholders.
  • Ability to work and collaborate with the executive management team to develop customer experience and infrastructure policies, practices, standards, and governance across the Town.
  • Evaluate business processes, anticipating requirements to uncover areas for innovation and improvement.
  • Develop technical requirements for major projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with executive management team to develop appropriate strategies and process to improve and implement a comprehensive customer and infrastructure experience across all divisions.
  • Assist the CTO in developing, planning, and managing the department budget within fiscal guidelines set by the Town.
  • Coordinate resource availability and allocation for both internal resources and third-party vendors.
  • Participate in Town-wide committees and special projects, including facilities and Capital Improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Exempt - ineligible for overtime compensation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management, information systems, or closely related field. However, a non-technical degree can be acceptable if complemented with the appropriate certifications and/or experience
  • Master's degree (Preferred) in information technology-related field. However, a non-technical degree can be acceptable if complemented with the appropriate certifications and/or experience
  • 5 - 8 years of progressive experience working in an IT Leadership Role
  • 2+ years of experience working in a regulatory environment
  • Certifications such as AZURE or AWS, preferred
    Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the job.
