Position Summary
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a visionary and servant leader providing strategic direction and leadership for enterprise-wide technology that includes Information Technology (IT) and Information Systems (IS) that support business goals. The CIO will ensure the team execute the development and delivery of quality technology services and to manage and mitigate risks to member and employee data. The CIO will be responsible for IT and IS including infrastructures, enterprise systems and security, network communications (data, voice, Internet and video), network application servers, desktop management and support, Data Analytics, Core Services (Symitar) and data center operations. The CIO will collaborate with the Information Security Officer to effectively oversee, plan and direct enterprise information and cyber security and operational controls.
As an ambassador and advocate, the CIO promotes the credit union’s mission and its value to all stakeholders, while building solid external relationships within the communities served with a keen focus on key partnerships. The CIO will serve as a champion that supports the strategic direction and business goals of the Credit Union for long-term success and relevancy in the marketplace to inspire the mission and values of the organization, supporting the member experience, increasing employee engagement, and ensuring profitability and overall sustainability. The CIO will serve communities by giving back through philanthropic and volunteer efforts.
Essential Functions & Additional Responsibilities
25% - Vision and Strategy - Develop a roadmap for IT, IS, Data analytics teams and business partners for effective execution, making key contributions to the formulation of the company’s business plans by collaborating with the senior leadership team and participating in strategic initiatives and projects. Lead the Information Technology Steering Committee. Proactively identify areas deficiencies for improvement, changes in procedures, new developments, or changes in service or products and implement any corrective actions to insure superior member service, in a timely manner.
20% - Security and Governance - Develop a roadmap for information security program, which includes Governance, Risk & Compliance, Awareness, Vulnerability Management, Threat Monitoring, Situational Awareness, & Assessment, etc. Responsible for the Credit Union’s member data security program and compliance with applicable procedures, policies and laws including but not limited to risk assessments, risk management and control decisions, service provider arrangements, results of testing and security breaches or violations. Develops and maintains information security and information technology risk assessments. Develops, implements, and reviews the Credit Union’s Disaster Recovery Plan, Business Continuity Plan and Incident Response Plan.
20% - Data Analytics - Develop and implement a data-centric strategy that includes data collection, storage, dissemination, and analytics. Develop organization capabilities to support data driven decision making and performance insights while also supporting strategic plans. Ensure data processing applications are utilized to the fullest capability to deliver statistical data, reports, and tracking information, which provides information required to support sound business decisions.
15% - Vendor Management - Research and recommend current and future technology updates for alignment with organization and strategic business goals of credit union, which includes investigation and analysis of expanded uses for data processing applications, changes or alternation of data processing or telecommunications hardware and software. Calculate the cost benefit of IT/IS investments and overall cost of ownership. Negotiate third-party agreements related to implementation and to maintenance. Serve as chief liaison between the credit union, technology, or telecommunications vendors. Stay on top of industry best practices, trends, and technology, and bring innovative solutions to address challenges.
15% - Leadership, Culture, & Engagement - Cultivates a collaborative environment and workplace experience that hires, develops, and recognizes quality talent to meet the needs of the membership. Provides leadership, coaching, and mentorship to strengthen the Credit Union’s bench of future leaders and achieve business objectives. Lead in a way to inspire the mission and values of the organization to develop effective leaders and increase employee engagement to become an employer of choice.
5% - Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Security or related field at an accredited college/university is required. A MBA or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Security or related technical field at an accredited college/university is preferred.
Experience:
10+ years of Senior Leadership experience in technology and/or Information Security, and project management required. Certifications such as CISSP, Project+, Network+, and/or A+. 10+ years of progressive Senior Leadership experience in technology, security, and data. 10 + years of experience working in a Credit Union preferred.

• Maintain working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and collaborative tools (Teams and Zoom).
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of organization’s Employee Handbook and policies.
• Must demonstrate functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to: U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.
