Job Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer is an integral role within the Executive Committee of the publicly traded Hall of Fame Resort & Entertainment Company (NASDAQ: HOFV, HOFVW). This position will have oversight of the Finance, Accounting, and Information Technology (IT) functions while reporting directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Hall of Fame Village, a subsidiary of the publicly traded Hall of Fame Resort & Entertainment Company (NASDAQ: HOFV, HOFVW).

The ideal candidate for the job will currently be an enterprise CFO or strong Division CFO. The CFO should be well-versed in the SEC regulatory and reporting environments, leading dialogue with external banking partners and auditors, partnering with all internal line of business leaders, interacting with the Board of Directors, and leading conversations with external investors and banking analysts. The role requires a proactive problem solver with exceptional communication skills and the flexibility to be both a doer and a leader. The position would immediately oversee management of the current internal team, as well as external teams/consultants that provide ongoing subject matter expertise needed to support the public company.? A critical component of the position is continuing to add to the internal team allowing for greater subject matter expertise, financial reporting, and controls to transition into an ongoing daily operating environment. The ability to work under pressure in an ever-evolving environment with poise and confidence is critical.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Provide superior guest service to visitors, guests, clients, vendors, and staff.?
  • Evaluate new business development opportunities with the team, making value-added recommendations to move the business forward.
  • Present to the Board of Directors related to financial results, forecasts, and financing. Ensure timely and accurate materials for each Audit Committee meeting.
  • Continue to evolve the Internal Controls framework across HOFV, working with Internal Audit function to determine process improvements.
  • Interact with current and prospective stock analysts, ensuring proper information flow around company initiatives is being leveraged in their evaluation.
  • Work closely with Human Resources on the headcount and resource planning as HOFV continues to grow.
  • Ensure timely submission of regulatory filings in conjunction with Legal, and external auditors, and other partners where necessary.
  • Interface with banks and lenders, including working with them to understand timing of cash flows and requirements.
  • Align on go-forward IT strategy to drive an engaging customer experience as new assets are opened on the campus.
  • Ensure proper compliance program and controls are continually monitored for IT, accounting, and financial reporting, to include working with 3rd party partners and tenants as necessary.
  • Lead all financial strategic planning and forecasting efforts throughout the year to include: 5-year Planning, Annual Budget, and Quarterly Forecasts.
  • Continue to maximize company balance sheet ensuring proper mix of debt and equity, while maintaining maximum flexibility to progress development across all three business verticals including: Themed Destination Based Assets, Media, and Gaming.
  • Work closely with HOFV line of business leaders in approval of division budgets against stated strategic plan to maximize opportunity against short and long-term goals.
  • Lead the Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and IT teams to provide appropriate business partnership, while adhering to a Controllership mentality through process adherence.
  • Supervision of assigned staff, assuming day-to-day responsibilities for personnel related matters that include but are not limited to:
  • Assist during interview process, onboard, and train new hires.
  • Complete annual performance reviews for all supervised staff.
  • Provide continuous feedback, supervision, and coaching to all supervised staff.
  • Formal discipline supervised staff in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Create and maintain schedule, assignments, and attendance.
  • Approve time clocks and make adjustments as needed.
  • Respond in a timely manner to calls, texts, inquiries, and emails.
  • Enforce uniform protocol.
  • All other duties as assigned.

SALARY / EXEMPT POSITION

Critical Success Factors:

  • Balance short-term and long-term trade-offs when driving data-based decisions throughout HOFV.
  • Knowledge of SEC reporting processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Leadership skills that will motivate both internal and external resources to achieve stated goals.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of company leadership, including executive management and the Board of Directors, as well as external parties such as auditors, government stakeholders, bank lenders, and other third-party support groups.
  • Experience with implementing and evolving standard operating procedures, including appropriate financial internal controls.
  • Understanding complex business initiatives, and quickly analyze potential impact on HOFV financials.
  • Ability to forecast sources and uses of cash, communicating as appropriate to internal and external parties.
  • Relationship building with shareholders, potential investors, and the analyst community to ensure proper awareness of stated company goals and achievements on an ongoing basis.
Requirements:

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting required, CPA/MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 15-20 years of accounting or finance experience required.
  • Experience in the real estate industry, combined with entertainment, destinations, and awareness of sports industry preferred.
  • Experience in various areas of Finance.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and experience in implementing a new ERP.
  • Excellent interpersonal and partnership skills.
  • Must have the ability to build relationships and gain the trust of internal and external stakeholders and partnerships.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office—Outlook, Word, Excel are a must—and comfortable with learning new technology platforms.
  • Strong time-management skills as well as the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and coordinate multiple projects at once.
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate uncompromised judgment and discretion regarding confidential matters while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Have a willingness to be on the operational side of finance as the newly-formed team continues to grow.

Physical Requirements for Position:

  • The ability to lift up to 20 pounds regularly.
  • The ability to work in various Ohio weather conditions, inside and outside.
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain, steps, or in construction zones.
  • The ability to see and respond to hazardous situations.
