CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Position Overview
RFK Community Alliance (RFKCA) is looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO is the senior administrative officer responsible for the financial and business operations of the agency. The CFO provides support, consultation, and business planning support to all agency programs. The CFO reports to the CEO and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
Responsibilities
Control and maintain all financial records and transactions and all other financial matters relating to RFKCA. Maintain records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Commonwealth of Massachusetts and other regulatory requirements. Oversee financial risk management systems, accounting policies, and system of internal controls.
Review and oversee the financial accounting of all RFKCA contracts by; preparing submissions of contracts and amendments; participate as appropriate in contract negotiations with funding sources. With the Vice President of Human Resources, maintain budgeted staffing and FTE count as required by Chapter 766 policy and regulations.
With the CEO and the Executive Team, provide leadership and consultation to all phases of institutional planning and program development at RFK Community Alliance.
Oversee the integration and ongoing performance of computerized financial systems, , and preparation of accurate financial statements, financial analyses, and projections (including financial and cash flow) in accordance with GAAP.
Implement budget module to provide budget owners timely access to data, improve budget monitoring capabilities, and to enhance the annual budget development process.
Oversee preparation of RFKCA's annual budget; annual capital and information technology budgets and provide consultation and support to program management staff with budgetary responsibilities.
Prepare monthly budget tracking and financial monitoring reports to Board of Trustees and senior management.
Develop and maintain multi-year integrated operating and capital budgets models to align with strategic priorities.
Responsible for information technology, inclusive of a third-party vendor and on-site staff.
Provide support and oversight to facilities management functions, as needed. To include review and development of facilities budget, inclusive of a capital budget; work with and support the Director of Facilities, as needed.
Work closely with the Vice President of Organizational Advancement to oversee accurate accounting records for unrestricted and restricted donations, pledges, bequests, etc.; provide necessary support to the preparation and submission of grant proposals.
Attend RFKCA Board meetings, including Executive and Finance, Audit, and Investment committee meetings.
Ensure compliance with loan covenants and reporting requirements and obtain and manage debt financing as required.
Oversee and provide all information necessary for year-end audit and implementation of auditor's advisory comments; prepare RFKCA annual Uniform Financial Reporting (UFR) filing with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; coordinate Board review and approval of the UFR.
Oversee and provide all information necessary for the annual 403(B) retirement plan audit and prepare IRS Form 990 and MA Form PC.
Maintain adequate insurance in conjunction with RFKCA risk management policies.
Working closely with the CEO and Agency's Risk Committee, enhance a culture of risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.
Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
Degree in Accounting, Financial Management or Business Administration; MBA or CPA preferred;
Minimum of seven years supervisory experience in progressively responsible senior financial administration; prefer senior financial administration experience in a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 corporation; experience with non-profit human service contracting and regulations a plus;
Excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, internal control and reporting;
Strong financial analytic ability; ability to think and plan systemically;
Strong financial planning skills;
Strong computer/financial software skills;
Strong written and presentation skills;
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work under pressure;
Ability to collaborate and facilitate team decision making;
Ability to motivate and support staff to meet deadlines within an internal control environment.
