The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) seeks a part-time Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO will be responsible for overseeing financial operations of the organization, ensuring the organization’s financial health and sustainability. This role will manage LRF’s financial reporting, annual budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and annual audit. The CFO will work closely with the Chief Executive Offcer and Board of Directors to develop and implement financial strategies that support the organization’s mission and goals. LRF is the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted to funding innovative research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives, and patient services. About the Opportunity
LRF seeks a talented professional to fill the role of part-time CFO. The position may be hybrid but please note that regular attendance in the LRF New York City office will be required. Compensation $100,000-$175,000.
Responsibilities
- Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records and reports
- Prepare and present financial reports to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors, providing analysis and recommendations as needed
- Ensure compliance with all financial reporting and regulatory requirements, including tax filings, audits, and other reporting requirements
- In partnership with the Chief Executive Officer and the Controller, manage the annual budgeting process, working closely with the senior staff to develop department budgets
- Monitor actual performance against budget and provide regular updates and analysis to the Chief Executive Officer
- Develop and maintain financial forecasting models that support financial planning and organization decision-making
- Manage the organization’s investment portfolio at the direction of its Investment Committee and external advisors
- Oversee annual audit as well as tax filings and compliance requirements
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, with at least 5 years in the nonprofit sector
- Proven track record of successful financial management, including experience developing and implementing financial strategies, managing budgets/investments, and overseeing financial reporting and compliance
- Strong leadership and management skills; interest in working as a member of a team
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
