Summary of Responsibilities
The CFO provides leadership, direction and management over the financial activities of the organization including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, annual audit, regulatory compliance, business analysis, risk management and payroll. As part of the senior management team participates in the strategic planning process.
Duties/Essential Functions:
- Uphold the Mission, Vision and Values of Forgotten Harvest
- Attend all required meetings
- Oversees all aspects of the organization’s financial management including accounting functions, cash flow, investment management, asset management, banking relationships, financial reporting, payroll, and the annual audit process.
- Oversee the financial aspects of the employee benefit plans.
- Oversees the organization’s treasury duties and responsibilities which includes cash management, banking relationships and financing needs.
- Manages and develops a team of finance professionals.
- Ensures all resources are optimally leveraged to most effectively support the organization’s mission.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate internal control processes.
- Prepares monthly financial reports including, income statement, balance sheet, cash flow analysis, and financial projections for the CEO, Finance Committee and Board.
- Oversees and monitors the integrity of the general ledger and management systems to accurately report financial activity.
- In partnership with the CEO and Management Team, develops and monitors annual budgets. Effectively communicates budget process with department management.
- Assesses and leads the organization’s risk management and insurance requirements.
- Ensures that the organization complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Prepares financial analysis to support the business decision-making process of the CEO and Management Team.
Qualifications:
- Must be a skilled professional with strong accounting background, prior experience managing financial resources; requires a strong working knowledge of accounting systems; financial planning and analysis, including budgeting cash flow and insurance management.
- Experience with non-profit accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or CPA/CMA (preferred)
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a financial leadership role
- Experience managing the financial operations of a comparable organization in size and complexity (preferred)
- Excellent verbal, analytical, and written skills
- Ability to adapt, work collaboratively, and problem solve in a dynamic, mission driven environment
- Demonstrated a commitment to servant leadership in prior roles
- Must have valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record as determined by FH insurance company, and valid personal auto insurance
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- General office working conditions
- Positioned at desk/office approximately 60% of working time
- Occasional travel to meetings, appointments, other FH locations, etc.
- Occasional overtime hours
- No unusual physical exertion
