Position Summary:
Supports the Assistant Controller and Chief Financial Officer in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department. Ensures accurate and timely posting of all revenues. Works in conjunction with payroll in preparing all payroll tax filings and payments. Verifies and audits key accounting documentation. Assists accounts receivable and payable supervisors with staff training and provides support as needed. Responsible for management of customer contracts. Ensures customers are billed monthly and that all quarterly commissions are paid. Ensures compliance with internal controls. Assists Assistant Controller, as needed. May supervise accounting staff. Resolves discrepancies in accounting records.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a clear concise manner, both orally and in writing.
- Prior accounting experience, preferably 6+ years or equivalent college education preferred.
- Proficient in the use of accounting software, computer and business software, and excel.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills, especially regarding financial data.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster a team environment, multi-task efficiently and maintain positive working relationships. Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to keep financial information and company plans confidential at all times.
- Ability to lead, coach, train, develop and motivate employees.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the Accounting Department by handling various financial responsibilities, such as ensuring all revenues are posted in a timely and accurate manner.
- Work with payroll in preparing all payroll tax filings and payments.
- Verify and audit key accounting documentation.
- Assist accounts receivable and accounts payable supervisors with staff training and provide support as needed.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with external and internal customers.
- Responsible for the management and distribution of customer contracts.
- Ensure customers are billed monthly for fees and paid for quarterly commissions.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and policies at all times.
- May supervise accounting staff. Perform regular and timely Performance Evaluation discussions and documentation with members of team and promote team environment while providing individual growth opportunities.
- Foster a team environment, multi-task efficiently and maintain positive working relationships.
- Ensure that all communications are shared with employees in a timely and accurate manner.
- Protect operations by keeping financial information and company plans confidential.
- Keep Assistant Controller apprised of all issues and concerns and fill in in their absence.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Valid Drivers License with clean driving record preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 6+ years accounting experience or equivalent college education. Associates Degree in Accounting/Finance, Bachelors Degree preferred.
- Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays.
