Job Summary:
Requires employees to cadmium plate, buff, polish, surface finish and harden a wide variety of aircraft parts. May be required to assist higher and lower grade Operators.
- Working from shop routers, specifications, detailed instructions, and standard operation methods.
- Performs electroplating operation to surface finish and harden parts. Exercises judgment to determine quality and maintains thickness of plating, according to engineering requirements and specification guidelines.
- Operates electroplating equipment while maintaining mental and visual attention to time and flow of current during process.
- Selects and positions parts on rack according to size shape and number to be electroplated.
- Uses simple hand tools, measuring instruments and a nondestructive thickness tester.
- Operate stationary polishing wheels or uses chemicals to buff and polish a wide variety of aircraft parts.
- Performs operations necessary to cadmium plate a variety of parts and material in accordance with specifications and accepted shop practices. Solution formulas are maintained by chemical laboratory.
- Maintains solution level and temperatures in tank and set prescribed plating cycle time.
- Cleans and rinses parts before plating, check for required buildup, select appropriate fixture and determines spacing of parts in tank.
- Responsible for quality of own work.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education:
Requires a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification.
Experience:
Requires a minimum of one year metal or chemical processing or related experience.
