Certified Peer Specialist I
People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist to join our team at Maghakian Place IRTS. Certified Peer Specialist provide a non-clinical approach that helps clients discover their strengths and develop their own unique recovery goals. The CPS models wellness, personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hopefulness through appropriate sharing of his or her story.
Schedule: Full-Time, Sunday - Thursday 3:00pm - 11:30pm OR Tuesday - Saturday 3:00pm - 11:30pm
Location: 1100 Hancock St, St. Paul, MN 55106
Hiring Range: $18.29 - $20.32 Hourly depending on qualifications and work experience

Main Job Duties:
- Provide quality program services to the individuals served in a professional manner. Complete required documentation according to program standards and timelines.
- Coordinate and monitor the assessment, treatment planning process and follow up for each client.
- Serve as an advocate and liaison for and on behalf of the client’s rights.
- Provide peer support to those experiencing mental health symptoms.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, education and skill-building around wellness planning, crisis planning, and self-advocacy to support the clients’ recovery goals.
- Act as a liaison between the clinical team and clients to ensure each client’s needs and preferences are understood and honored whenever possible.
- Provide assistance to clients in order to promote their physical, social, and psychological well-being.
- Coordinate resources and services to ensure clients have what they need to succeed.
- Provide education and skill building in the areas of wellness planning, crisis planning, advanced psychiatric directives, and self-advocacy skills.
- Provide services that help clients identify their strengths and to use their strengths to reach their treatment goals and identify and overcome barriers to participate in community resources.
- Connect the clients with resources such as, visiting community resources to assist clients in becoming familiar with potential opportunities, and teaching and modeling the skills needed to successfully utilize community resources.
- Build relationships and encourage community-based activities, such as work, relationships, physical activity, and self-directed hobbies.
- Facilitate and conduct group interventions, if applicable.
- Transport clients to medical and/or mental health appointments where client requires support from staff in the appointment, according to program policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- Have a primary diagnosis of mental illness
- Is a current or former consumer of mental health services
- Demonstrate leadership and advocacy skills, and have a strong dedication to recovery.
- Must be free of chemical use problems for at least one year immediately proceeding their hiring and must sign a statement attesting to that fact, if applicable.
Required Certifications/Licenses:
- Current DHS certification as a Certified Peer Specialist
