Job Description

Peer Recovery Specialist
Overview:
Are you a Peer Recovery Specialist passionate about making a real difference in the lives of those battling Substance Use Disorder? Imagine a role where your personal journey through addiction becomes a beacon of hope and guidance for others. As a PRS with our organization, you're not confined to the walls of a treatment center. Instead, you have the unique opportunity to meet clients right where they need you most – in their communities, homes, and everyday lives.
Your role goes beyond traditional support; it's about providing tailored mentorship, helping individuals navigate complex services, and advocating for their needs. Every day, you'll see the tangible impact of your work – sometimes, you might even save a life. Your past experiences, including any criminal background, are not barriers here. In fact, we believe these experiences enrich your ability to connect with and assist others.
Join us, and turn your journey into a powerful tool for change. Together, let's offer hope and practical support to those striving for recovery, while you continue to strengthen your own path. This isn't just a job; it's a chance to transform lives – including your own.
As a 1099 CPRS at Kyros, you have the freedom of creating your own availability, while maintaining a part or full time caseload. Depending on your location and availability, Kyros provides placement at a partnering program in Minnesota.
Qualifications:
  • Valid and active Peer Recovery Specialist certification with the Minnesota Certification Board.
    • If you have training but are NOT yet certified, please reach out to MCB and they can assist you with the process.
  • Personal lived experience in recovery.

  • Reliable Vehicle & Insurance
  • One year of uninterrupted sustained recovery from substances.
Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Offer empathy, understanding, and non-judgmental support based on personal lived experiences.
    • Act as a role model and demonstrate that recovery is possible.
  • Conduct Individual Support Sessions:
    • Provide individualized peer support including the promotion of clients' goals and maintenance of clients' newly developed skills.
    • Help clients develop coping strategies and resilience in their recovery journey.
    • Provide in-person, phone, and virtual support as needed.
  • Advocacy:
    • Assist clients in accessing appropriate services and resources.
    • Collaborate with community organizations to improve support systems.
  • Crisis Intervention:
    • Know when and how to involve professional services or emergency responders.
    • Understand client triggers and support the development of healthy coping mechanisms.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and progress.
  • Self-Care and Supervision:
    • Understand the importance of your own recovery and emotional well-being always coming first.
    • Engage in regular supervision (provided virtually and weekly by company) to reflect on personal and professional growth.
Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of the recovery process and principles.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and related challenges
  • Familiarity with community resources and support services.
  • Communication skills.
  • Cultural Competence.
  • Boundaries and Ethics.
Compensation:
  • Already credentialed Certified Peer Recovery Specialists start at a range of $23.50-$26.50 hourly, paid weekly
  • Newly credentialed Certified Peer Recovery Specialist start at a range of $18.50 - $21.50 hourly, paid weekly, until 500 hours of service are accrued.
  • This is a 1099 (independent contractor) role. In order to give you the freedom of creating your own schedule and preferred availability, we are unable to utilize a W2 position. We currently are looking for part and full time roles.
