Position Overview: The Certification Program Team is responsible for the for management and execution of certification and Hazmat programs (i.e. ISO 9000, ISO 14001, etc.) to ensure ongoing compliance and certification. The team ensures that a documented management (and supporting systems) are effectively established through systematic examination and verification of business processes, records, documentation, and physical inspections. The team facilitates periodic onsite external audits (by a certification authority), as well as internal audits to substantiate/validate DigiKey's documented management systems.
The Certification Program Specialist will evaluate potential risks to DigiKey's management systems and produce ways to alleviate them. The Certification Program Specialist serves as a subject matter expert in Hazardous Materials Compliance and is responsible for performing specialized administrative and project related duties.
This role is based in Thief River Falls, Minnesota or Fargo, North Dakota, and will require a minimum of two days per week in the office and be available for projects in the office as needed. Occasional travel required, domestically.

- Develop, manage, and execute business plans and contribute to the development of functional strategy
- Recommend policy changes that establish effective and efficient processes
- Utilize technical knowledge and decision-making skills to ensure that the departments within Digikey are compliant with departmental and regulatory procedures; monitor changes in regulations, analyze impact on business and assist with implementing of changes. Ensure relevant regulatory reporting requirements are being met
- Work with automated systems, reports, queries, and workflows to research data and technical problems and make appropriate recommendations for their resolution
- Interact with departments at all levels within the company
- Proactively develop and drive cross-functional goals and objectives
- Perform various duties to monitor adherence to certification requirements, including (but not limited to) training, guidance, interpretation, etc.
- Cultivate a working knowledge of the applicable standards, such as ISO, Counterfeit, Hazmat, ISMS, etc.
- Support and manage the documented management system (including documents) for DigiKey; this includes working collaboratively with business representatives to ensure corporate documentation is high quality and accessible through Digi-Key's Management System Software
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two- or Four-Year Degree in Business, Technical, or similar area of study or equivalent, and/or relevant work experience
- Experience in ISMS 27001 auditing techniques
- 2+ years of experience in Quality Management/Quality Assurance/Quality Control or IT Field
Preferred Qualifications
- Possess an understanding of I.T. Department functions, how they operate, and how they support the business
- Helpful certifications: Quality Auditor Certification (CQA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Security Practitioner (CISSP), Certified ISO 27001 auditor
- 1-2+ years of experience working at DigiKey with experience in Operational Excellence, Audit, I.T, Compliance roles
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 standard and audit procedures
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001:2015 standard and audit procedures
- Understanding of the various functions of DigiKey, how they work together as well as the industry DigiKey operates in
- Knowledge of DigiKey brand and its principles
- Familiarity with ISO and Counterfeit standards, Hazmat compliance, management, and support of systems, including internal audit/document control, aspects, and CAPA functions
Physical Requirements:
- Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse, and screen.
- Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body.
