CAFÉ & BAR MANAGER-SIGNATURE THEATRE
Signature Theatre, one of New York's leading off-Broadway theatres, is seeking a CAFÉ & BAR MANAGER for The Pershing Square Signature Center on West 42nd Street.
About Signature
Founded in 1991, Signature Theatre celebrates playwrights and gives them an artistic home, producing six to eight productions annually. In 2005 Signature began its groundbreaking Signature Ticket Initiative, providing affordable tickets to all of its productions. In 2012, Signature opened The Pershing Square Signature Center, the Frank Gehry-designed 75,000 square foot Center featuring three theatres, two rehearsal studios, a central, public lobby with a café and bookstore, as well as administrative offices.

Position Summary
Signature Theatre is seeking to hire a dynamic and experienced café and BAR MANAGER to oversee the Pershing Square Signature Center's Café. The Café and Bar Manager will report to Signature's General Manager and will supervise a team of part-time staff. The candidate selected for this role will be tasked to ensure compliance with all policies, regulations, and will be expected to contribute to meeting café and bar financial goals.

Responsibilities

• Create food & beverage menus.
• Maintain all health and safety practices for all areas of the Café & Bar.
• Purchase, stock and inventory all consumable and non-consumable items.
• Maintain a purchasing budget and costs as directed by management.
• Perform administrative and reporting tasks in a timely manner
• Perform as lead bartender for a minimum of five shifts per week; in addition to café manager administrative duties.
• Maintain food & beverage compliance standards.
• Foster a welcoming and respectful climate among all team members.
• Create and manage employee schedules.
• Manage planning logistics for internal and external catering events including Center rentals.
• Control cash handling and reporting of income and expenditures.
• Contribute ideas for additional income generation, communication, and development opportunities to strengthen the Café & Bar visibility - work closely with the marketing and development department.
• Ensure that excellent customer service is always delivered to patrons and visitors.
• Will work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of POS system (Square knowledge a plus)
• In depth knowledge of wine, spirits, and cocktails
• Computer skills required to fulfill management functions, including POS system operation and Microsoft Office suite.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Self-motivated and initiative driven with leadership ability.
• Welcoming and polite manner, neat and professional.
• Manages well under pressure while coordinating a wide range of activities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Outstanding organizational skills and extraordinary attention to detail.
• In-depth knowledge of NYC Department of Health standards.
• Valid Food Handler's Certificate.
• Concession management experience a plus.
• Passion and knowledge of the Off-Broadway and Broadway community a plus.

• At least two years' experience in a food & beverage related supervisory role.
• Experience managing and overseeing a team of employees.
