Job description

The Eugene Water & Electric Board is currently seeking a CAD Technician II, experienced with Autodesk Civil 3D, to utilize Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) and Document Management applications to create and revise water, electric, telecommunication and steam utility technical drawings in architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering fields. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing facilities and property research, monitoring standardization and delivery of engineering work products in a secure environment and operating scanner, plotter, and reprographic equipment. This position is open until filled and the first review of applicants will occur on February 19, 2024. We recommend you get your application materials in as soon as possible.
CAD Technicians are also responsible for:

  • Developing maps and technical drawings in civil, mechanical, architectural, and electrical engineering disciplines using CAD methods, e.g., EWEB facility construction drawings (electric, water, telecom, and steam), electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, piping layout drawings, topographic maps, plan and profile drawings, charts, signs, and graphs. Use land surveyor's field notes or survey data to prepare the above-mentioned types of documents.
  • Systematically research County, City, EWEB and other utilities' infrastructure documents to aid in the planning, design, operation, and maintenance of EWEB facilities.
  • Utilizing document management system capabilities to store, control and retrieve critical engineering documents.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and direct experience in:
  • Proper CAD techniques for preparing complex architectural, structural, electrical, civil, mechanical engineering and cartographic drawings.
  • CAD software (including Civil 3D), document management system and reprographic equipment.
  • Familiarity with Geographic Information System (GIS).

Minimum Training and Experience Required:
Minimum Experience: Four years of AutoCAD drafting experience in two or more fields of civil, electrical or mechanical engineering, cartography.
Education: Associate degree from an accredited college in technical drafting or equivalent in formal drafting education and training.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of experience and training that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying.

The starting hourly wage for this position is $35.19 - $42.40 per hour commensurate with knowledge, skills, education, and experience as it relates to the position.

Telecommuting:
This position is based inEugene, Oregon and it has been approved as a hybrid work arrangement involving a combination of telecommuting and working on-site. The selected candidate must live in the state of Oregon.
