The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) reports to the Business Systems Manager. The Business Systems Analyst serves as an expert of the standard ERP Scrap Management System, while ensuring that all their efforts are compliant with the company Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. The Business Systems Analyst must possess knowledge of training, administrative support, and reporting (both canned and ad hoc).
This position operates under flexible parameters. The primary goal of this position is to achieve excellence in all facets of the position. Providing the highest quality product safely, effectively, and efficiently decreases accidents and errors, and increase profits.
Salary: $75,000 SSE Columbus
$95,000 Everett
Essential Functions
Operational Performance & Best Business Practices
- Become completely conversant with all technical/operational aspects of the standard ERP Scrap Management System (SMS) within an accelerated timeframe
- Learn and support the operations, commercial, logistics, and sales elements of the business to be able to optimize the capabilities of the SMS and all other operational Business Systems
- Act as one of the points of contact for support of the SMS and other Business Systems
- Understand and identify more efficient work processes, working closely with the rest of the team to resolve
- Function as program leader to manage companywide, regional, or state-specific Business Systems projects
- Work with new acquisitions to transition users through training programs and existing processes
- Provide documentation for training, modifications, and solutions in regards to the SMS
- Provide daily and possible ad-hoc reporting to key stakeholders across the company
Environmental and Health & Safety (H&S)
- Strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
- Provides a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors.
Internal Control Responsibilities
Supports the Company's Internal Control process which includes understanding, communicating, and complying with defined internal controls as well as suggesting and making modifications to the policies, procedures, and controls to better relate to the business. Communicates upward problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, or other policy violations or illegal actions.
Interpersonal ContactsDirect contact with Director of Enterprise Operations, Commercial, Operations, Logistics, Sales, and Accounting employees. Communicates via face-to-face, telephone, email, and MS Teams.
Job Conditions
This position is regularly exposed to all weather conditions. Physical hazards such as noise, fumes, and dirt are present due to the equipment, machinery, and scrap as would be found throughout the scrap yard Safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, face shields, and additional personal protective equipment as needed, must be worn to eliminate the risks associated with these hazards. Travel Required: 20-30%, depending on the projects at hand. Travel can range from the SE, to the West Coast including Canada and Hawaii. A passport is required.
Handling multiple issues regarding safety and maintenance increases pressure. Workload may be unpredictable, and pressure can be substantial during peak times. Critical deadlines require considerable adaptability. Disturbances of workflow and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis. Extra hours may be required, though very rarely, on weekends, weekdays, and holidays.
Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions
Ability to: crouch or bend at the knees occasionally to increase visibility; stoop or bend at the waist occasionally to increase visibility; reach at arms length frequently or overhead occasionally; twist and turn at the neck and trunk; walk occasionally on uneven ground; handle and grasp objects continually; communicate by speech and hearing continually. Visual acuity needed for close detail work. Mental dexterity needed as Business System Analyst will work independently while demonstrating attention to detail and continuous awareness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, related field, or equivalent experience in either software support, the metals recycling industry, or both.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate well with teammates in both a remote and in-person working environment.
- Effective English communications skills (both written and spoken) are essential. Spanish communication skills are desirable, but not necessary for the role.
- Ability to bridge gap between the technical aspects of the scrap management system and communicate effectively to a non-technical group.
- Highly motivated and a self-starter.
- Able to learn through training, experimentation in test environments and shadowing personnel.
- Must have organizational skills, analytical skills, and research skills in resolving, at times, complex problems.
