The Business Development Specialist will work closely with a specific Strategic Business Unit, the Strategic Business Unit's (SBU) Managing Director, Business Development Manager and SBU Leader with the development and implementation of SBU wide and attorney-specific marketing, business and client development projects and initiatives. Essential functions include:
- Develop a deep knowledge of the firm's attorneys, clients, experience, and capabilities within assigned portfolios.
- Work with Business Development Manager to develop and produce client-facing materials related to the pursuit of new business including pitches, presentations, client meeting materials, etc.
- Develop and maintain marketing materials, including industry/practice descriptions, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, case studies, client testimonials, intranet/website/blog content, and other collateral for use in print and on firm website.
- Lead collection and input of information into databases used by the Business Development team, including RFP/pitch database, representative experience database, matters/ case database, etc.
- Coordinate and manage activities related to membership of various professional, trade and industry organizations and sponsorship of industry events and conferences. This includes speaking engagements, advertisements, and other promotional opportunities, working with other members of the Business Development team.
- Produce internal communications celebrating successes and promoting best practices.
- Oversee event strategy in conjunction with Events team.
- Consistently collaborate and communicate with client development and marketing colleagues and other departments to ensure integration across geographies, PSCs and industries while supporting a "one firm" approach to the market.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field; or combination of education and commensurate work experience required.
- 3 - 5 years of relevant experience required, preferably in the legal industry or professional services.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to write and produce compelling proposals, collateral, research reports and client-facing presentation materials.
- High level of maturity and confidence necessary to interact with sophisticated internal and external clients.
- Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Internet research tools required. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and lnDesign software preferred. Knowledge of lnterAction CRM software a plus.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:
- State of Massachusetts: $60,000 - $114,000
The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
