This position is responsible for monthly financial reporting of Transmission Capital and Non-Capital results, including developing variance explanations. Assisting the Forecasting group develop and maintain the 5 year Transmission project forecasts and budgets. Respond to requests from Rates department including interrogatories and developing the list of capital projects for annual rate filings. Support creation of Transmission project master data in SAP (work orders and WBS's) as requested from Transmission Portfolio Development. This requires and in-depth understanding of FERC accounting, SAP cost flows, the concepts of: FE Operating Companies, Distribution vs. Transmission, Lines vs. Substations, capital vs removal vs. O&M, and the ability to determine asset ownership. The position also requires an understanding of various systems (SAP, PowerPlant, CREWS, Cascade, RPA, etc.) in order to determine the correct master data set up. The position will work closely with the FET Forecasting group in support of project forecasting and budgeting. This position also supports the Transmission Project Managers with project accounting. Participates in accounting related activities such as determining CIAC, developing journal entries, and project close-out.
Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrate commitment to the FirstEnergy Core Values and Behaviors including safety.
- Monthly financial reports of Transmission Capital and Non-Capital. Capital reports include direct, settled, and in-servicing.
- Develop and maintain the 5-year Transmission project forecasts and budgets in UI Planner.
- Ensure the accounting compliance of Transmission cost collectors.
- Create Transmission project WBS's and work orders in SAP.
- Determine correct asset ownership and incorporate in the development of the project accounting.
- Determine correct project accounting settlement rules relating to Operating Companies, Voltage, Capital, Removal, O&M of project accounting.
- Support the FET forecasting group with project accounting issues, CIAC (make the necessary system entries to ensure accurate posting), and create journal entries as needed.
- Support the Transmission Portfolio Development group by creating project WBS's and work orders in SAP for projects approved in the Transmission Portfolio.
- Support ad hoc research of WBS's and work orders.
- Collaborate with the Transmission Business Services Group.
An employee hired at the Advanced or Senior Analyst level will be expected to perform all the above responsibilities with more proficiency, and in a more independent manner. Qualifications include:
- Two or four year degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline preferred, along with a minimum 4 years relevant work experience required. In lieu of a degree, 7 years relevant experience required.Relevant work experience including financial analysis, accounting, financial reporting required. The experience must include a general understanding of the subject matter.
- Advanced degree is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional work experience including financial analysis, accounting, financial reporting required.
- Utility accounting experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of FE specific systems such as SAP, PowerPlant, CREWS, RPA, Transmission GIS, Transmission Mapping (on SharePoint), Toad Data Point, UI Planner is preferred.
- Knowledge of FERC accounting is preferred.
- Support of storm activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline is required with a minimum of 7 years related experience. Advanced degree a plus. In lieu of a degree, 10 years of related experience is required. Relevant work experience including financial analysis, accounting, financial reporting required. The experience must include a general understanding of the subject matter.
