Target Hiring Range: $21.14 - $23.78 for Building Inspector I
$27.11 - $30.50 for Building Inspector II
Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 7:00am - 5:00pm
3-day weekends Friday - Sunday

Position Overview:
Under general supervision of the Chief Building Official, performs building inspections in residential and commercial field inspections for code and ordinance compliance and enforcement. Reviews plans for compliance with designated codes and ordinances administered by the Community Development Department for purpose of issuing permits. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsible for regular, on-time attendance.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED and two years previous related experience in construction field required; four years of experience required at the Building Inspector II level.
Other Requirements
Valid Class "C" driver's license. Must have and maintain a good driving record in accordance with the driving standards as established by the City of Rowlett. Must report all traffic citations to his/her departmental Director or his/her designee within two working days of receipt.
Must possess a Plumbing Inspector License from the Texas State Plumbing Board or ability to obtain the license within 6 months of employment. Preference will be given to someone that already has a Plumbing Inspector License. Other ICC Certifications (e.g., Building Inspector, ICC Electrical Inspector - Residential and Commercial, or Mechanical Inspector) desired for Building Inspector I role but are required for Building Inspector II.
