We seek a polished and experienced Bookkeeper to maintain our financial records and work closely with senior management to analyze financial reports. This a remote position.
We are looking for a “people person” who appreciates the sensitive nature of the family-building process, has some existing knowledge of the surrogacy industry, and has experience in customer service, client care, and handling escalations (when necessary).
Experience with QuickBooks Online is required.
To be considered, you must:
- Have proven bookkeeping experience with a solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles;
- Be extremely organized and detail-oriented to maintain accuracy of data;
- Maintain client confidentiality;
- Have proven knowledge of QuickBooks Online, MS Office (specifically excel), basic data entry, and record-keeping;
- Be a confident self-starter who is comfortable working both independently and with a team;
- Have excellent phone and email etiquette;
- Have strong problem-solving skills;
- Be both assertive and confident in setting parameters and upholding realistic client expectations, while also exhibiting empathy and kindness.
Bookkeeping Responsibilities:
- Perform daily bookkeeping tasks, including but not limited to:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions by establishing accounts and posting transactions.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements.
- Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
- Balance subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.
- Draft and send invoices to clients.
- Create bills for processing after verification of expense.
- Maintain client records and create account reconciliations for case closures (or as needed).
- Enter financial benchmarks in company database.
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
- Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries.
- Balance general ledger by preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
- Maintain historical records by electronically filing documents.
- Prepare financial reports by collecting analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting.
- Prepare and verify monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial closing procedures.
- Comply with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions.
- Additional financial tasks as necessary.
- Contribute to full team efforts by completing additional tasks as necessary.
