Job Description:
The Arts Council of Henderson County is looking for a meticulous and experienced Bookkeeper to manage our financial records on a part-time, hybrid basis. This role is central to our operation, ensuring our financial activities are accurately recorded and compliant with legal standards. The ideal candidate will be proficient in managing a broad range of financial tasks, from transaction recording to financial reporting, contributing to the efficient operation of our financial systems.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; posting transactions; ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Develop and enforce bookkeeping policies and procedures by establishing a chart of accounts.
- Create strong processes for new employee onboarding paperwork
- Run payroll for organization in a timely manner
- Ensure accuracy in financial records by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions in subsidiary accounts.
- Reconcile entries and balance subsidiary accounts.
- Transfer summaries to maintain the general ledger and prepare a trial balance for balancing the general ledger.
- Preserve historical records through systematic filing of documents.
- Generate financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Run monthly report for board of directors
- Responsible for yearly collaboration with CPA and other tax professionals.
- Adhere to federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforce adherence to requirements; file financial reports; advise management on necessary actions.
- Collaborate with the team to meet the financial and operational goals of the Arts Council.
- Provide detailed financial information and support for grants, fundraising events, programming, and other council activities as required.
Qualifications:
- Proven bookkeeping experience with a strong understanding of financial principles.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Patriot Payroll
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with non-profit sector financial operations is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 10 per week
