Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Biostatistician - Population Health and Health System Sciences - Mineola.
In this role, the successful candidate We are seeking a Biostatistician/Data Scientist with at least 3 years of experience preferred for the Division of Health Services Research (DHSR). The successful candidate will join our analytical team and will be able to work both independently and as part of team to perform various activities, including study design, data collection, management, and analysis, interpretation of results and support manuscript preparation and grant writing efforts. The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with Information Technology members, clinicians and researchers to evaluate and implement statistical analysis and data science projects, systems, and initiatives at the DHSR and the enterprise level.
Job Responsibilities:
- Create and manage study databases
- Conduct end-to-end analyses that include data gathering and requirements specifications, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables, and presentations of analysis results to clinicians, researchers and the public as appropriate
- Develop analytical and data management tools to streamline research workflows, interpret results, and improve researcher access to study-specific data and to NYU Long Island and NYU Langone data resources
- Assess complex data systems and programs in support of ad-hoc and standing report requests
- Collaborate with other biostatisticians and data analysts, data annotators, database managers, and executive staff members
- Contribute in research protocol development, grant writing and manuscript preparation efforts as appropriate
- Contribute to the education mission of the DHSR by preparing and delivering lectures and support various medical education activities
- Participate and contribute to journal clubs.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a MS or PhD in statistics/biostatistics, data science, applied mathematics, or related field and 0-3 years of experience
Experience with database tools, including SQL queries, and experience with modern Big Data architecture (e.g., Hadoop Impala, Spark, Kafka)
Experience with EPIC/Clarity database
Strong knowledge and experience with statistical packages (e.g., SAS, R, Python) and data visualization software
The capacity for a high degree of autonomy and out-of-the-box thinking
Willingness to stay abreast of the development in all technical areas related to this position
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral Degree Biostatistics, Statistics or related field. Bachelor s Degree Information Technology or related field. 3-5 years Health Informatics. Proficient in Microsoft SQL.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $104,955.18 - $159,589.22 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
