Billing /Accounts Receivable Specialist

The Billing & Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for effective management, analysis, and problem resolution of the company's billing system to ensure accurate application of payments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES)
· Weekly billing document preparation
· Weekly billing generation in Dispatch Science
· Weekly recording of payments received by customers in Dispatch Science
· Reconciling billing inquiries
· Weekly collections
· Responsible for accurate/up to date customer information
· Records and verifies payments received by the company accurately and promptly
· Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area
· Posts, updates, and reconciles accounts using applicable systems. Prepares routine reports of delinquent or problem accounts
· May provide verification of payment to customers and others as needed
· Support Management by distributing timely and accurate Accounts Receivable information
CORE COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
· Knowledge of Billing and Accounts Receivable Principles
· Proficient with Microsoft, including Excel, Word and Outlook
· Ability to learn company specific software with limited guidance
· Strong organizational skills
· Ability to use 10-key calculator for a variety of accounting functions
· Strong mathematical aptitude
· Effective verbal, written, and client management skills
· Ability to work accurately and effectively under tight deadlines
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE (MUST IINCLUDE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, ADDITIONAL PREFERENCES OPTIONAL)
· High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent certificate
· College level accounting coursework or an Associates Degree in Accounting or comparable training and/or experience
· Two years of office and financial experience in accounts receivable preferred
· Have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
