Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Advanced Counselor provides direct patient care under the guidance of a RN or designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and within policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health. May provide clinical and administrative supervision.
Essential Job Functions
• Psychoeducation group facilitation
• Facilitation of Psychotherapy groups
• Individual and family psychotherapy
• Psychosocial Assessments -within scope and clinical supervision
• Discharge planning
• Information gathering
• Community resource knowledge and collaboration
• Participate in family meetings
• Treatment team participation
• SUD screenings
• SUD discharge planning
• PASSR completion
• Post-discharge calls
• PHQ, C-SSRS, GAD, PTSD screening
• 15 minute rounding
• Social Determinants of Health screenings
• Crisis assessment and referral services
• In-person facilitation of IOP/PHP/Outpatient psychotherapy

Licensing/Certification
Minimum Requirement = LPCC (LPC Virginia), ATR-BC (Board Certified), preferred LPCC-S
Education Minimum Requirement = Masters in Counseling, Masters in expressive therapy (Art)
Work Experience
Minimum requirement - 2 year in healthcare, social or human services setting. Preferred - >2 year in healthcare, social or human services setting.
