Kathrin's Biergarten / Brew Pub / German Restaurant in Rocklin is interviewing candidates for a dual role position - Server and Bartender.
The dual role will mean at some of your shifts you will be assigned to be a bartender, some other shifts you would work as a server. Amount of shifts/time allotted to each role might change on a weekly basis depending on demand and other staff's availability.
Bartender role details
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers sitting at the bar, give them menus, and inform them about daily specials.
- Be knowledgeable about beer and wine, in particular the current beer menu selection.
- Interact with customers.
- Be able to make food, beer and wine menu suggestions.
- Take drink and food orders from customers via POS system.
- Pour wine, serve draft and bottled beer. Understand which beers go into which glasses.
- Supply Servers their alcoholic drink orders.
- Check identification of customers, to ensure that they are of legal drinking age.
- Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, washing glasses and equipment.
- Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.
- Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience
- Operate cash registers, collect payments from customers, and return change.
- Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma.
- Meets state minimum age to serve alcohol.
- Positive, engaging personality and professional appearance.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong task and time management abilities.
- Ability to lift kegs.
- Knowledge about how to change beer couplers.
Server role details:
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Perform opening/closing duties according to shift assignment.
- Welcome each guest with a friendly greeting and a smile.
- Thoroughly knowledgeable in all aspects of food, beer and wine menu and can make recommendations.
- Serve high quality food/drinks and checks all orders to ensure they are complete, prepared as ordered, portioned correctly and attractive in appearance.
- Clears tables throughout the dining experience using proper methods for removing dishes, glassware and silverware. Maintains table cleanliness.
- Speak to guests to ensure satisfaction with food, drinks and service.
- Present bills, accept payments, operates POS system.
- Able to respond to guest complaints.
- Perform side work during shift downtime including but not limited, restocking condiment holders, cleaning work areas, stocking up salad and mustard bar, etc.
- Create and nurture a fun, family-style work environment.
- Check identification of guests in order to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
- Able to prioritize.
- Maintain personal health and sanitation standards.
- Ensure 100% compliance with all policies and laws, including health and safety standards.
- Communicates with managers and co-workers regarding product/service deficiencies, equipment, safety problems, etc.
- Prepare the table, laying out napkins and utensils, making sure the condiments are refilled, performing all other preparation tasks as needed.
- Assisting with special events as needed.
- Ability to speak, read and write English.
- Receives direction and training from Owner / Manager as to specific procedures and assignments.
Necessary Skills and Requirements:
- A minimum of 1 year full service, high volume, casual dining restaurant experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organization and problem-solving skills.
- Mature judgment in handling all matters.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to absorb and retain information quickly.
- Experience working in a team orientated environment.
- Ability to handle cash, give change and balance cash drawer at the end of shift.
