POSITION PURPOSE and EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Temporary: Summer 2024
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Check the pool area before, during and after shift for proper set-up and
cleanliness. Comply with all uniform and grooming standards of the hotel
and assure compliance by other staff members. Assure the safety of own
and others by informing and training proper use of Food Service
Equipment, Pool Equipment and Safety Equipment.
- Train and/or retrain new and existing Servers on Performance of proper service and
Side Jobs, Check Controls, Check list and Cost Saving Measures and other Hotel policies.
- Great the guests in a timely, friendly, courteous manner, offer pool bar menu,
based on Hotel Standards and within the sequence of service parameters. Explain any specials and/or pool bar promotion for guest awareness.
- Record the detail of the order from the guests, repeating the order to the guests to check for accuracy. Input the order into the point-of-sale system to inform the kitchen of the particulars in the order being placed.
- When complete, retrieve order from the kitchen/bar, confirm for accuracy, set balanced tray, lift, and deliver to guest, based on sequence of service parameters, along with appropriate condiments. Abide by all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
- Replenish beverages as necessary including cocktails and check with guests for overall satisfaction
- Prepare and serve upon request any beverages, desserts, pool cocktails, or specialty items.
- Check the guest’s check for accuracy of the charges and number of guests, present the Check to the guest promptly, collect appropriate payment and process the transaction.
- Understand the level of service and procedures for rental and service to pool cabanas, day beds, and Day Pass Guests.
OTHER DUTIES:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Hilton from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs for the hotel.
Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Hilton rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Employees who violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.
- Supplement the BusAttendant and FoodRunner help in cleaning and resetting the tables, chases and chairs.
- Perform all assigned sidework to include replenishing condiments and restocking side stations.
- Perform any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned to adhere to health standards, including pool tables, chairs, chaises, day beds, and cabanas, immediate work - station, table bottoms, chairs, flower vases and props and or other equipment.
- Additional duties including setting up cabanas, replenishing items at times and breaking up as necessary, or as directed by Supervisor and Manager.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Must have basic knowledge of food & beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
- Knowledge of the appropriate table settings, service ware and menu items
- Ability to read, write and speak the english language to communicate effectively
- Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items
- Ability to operate beverage and pool bar equipment
- Ability to operate a keyboard and learn Point-of-sale procedures to pre check order and close out check
- Bartending ability
QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS
Education:
Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High School or equivalent education preferred.
Experience:
Two years experience, as food server in full service restaurant is required.
Customer service experience preferred.
Bartending experience preferred
Licenses or certificates:
No special licenses required other than a valid CA Food Handlers Certificate and Responsible Beverage Certificate from CAL ABC to serve alcoholic beverages. Individuals are required to meet the minimum bonding standards
Grooming:
All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.

MACHINES/EQUIPMENT:
China substitute, plasticware, linen, flatware, coffee machine, slushie machine, refrigerators, dishwashing in a three compartment sink, Agilysys point of service, bottle opener, wine opener, tray, calculator, cutting knives, moving cart
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length. Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously. Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis. Must be able to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30Lbs. on a regular and continuing basis. Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. frequently. Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks. Requires grasping, writing, standing, setting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates. Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:
Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Most work tasks are performed outdoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F), possibly for one hour or more.
MISCELLANEOUS:
- Fingering: picking, pinching, typing, or work with fingers versus whole hand or arm.
- Grasping: Applies pressure with fingers and palm.
- Talking: Must convey ideas by spoken word, must convey information quickly and loudly to other workers, or guests.
- Hearing: Must perceive the nature of sound; receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound.
- Repetitive Motions: Substantial motions of hands, wrists and fingers. Climbing and descending stairs.
