Primary Role:

The Audio Video Technician (AV Tech) is responsible for complete installation of audio-visual solutions for our clients. The work includes but is not limited to cable pulls, terminations, rack building, mounting, installing and troubleshooting various types of networked, AV equipment. All work must meet the highest standards set forth by Avinext and our clients, while assuring a safe and professional work environment. Work conditions vary from construction sites (PPE required) to renovation projects like classrooms and boardrooms. This is a full-time position with some shift work, occassional travel, and possible overtime. Most work is performed Monday through Friday from 8 am - 5 pm.

Technician Responsibilities:

  • Maintain professional attitude with emphasis on safety and customer service
  • Communicate with customer, team members, and stakeholders in timely, courteous manner
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, line drawings, and construction documents
  • Move product and tools to and from job site
  • Install, terminate, test, and label audio/video/data cables
  • Mount, rig, and secure equipment as specified
  • Frequent use of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment
  • Build and test equipment racks
  • Load/install software, code, and firmware on DSPs, control systems, and other devices
  • Use cable testers, multimeters, and other tools to test, calibrate, and troubleshoot cabling and equipment
  • Remove trash and clean job site daily
  • Complete time and expense sheets daily
  • Comply with all safety programs of company and customers
  • Complete training programs from manufacturers, industry associations, and company as required
  • Track, manage, and secure equipment and tools
  • Keep vehicles organized, stocked, and properly maintained
  • Travel to and from jobsites daily. Some out-of-town travel may require overnight stays.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

The Audio Video Technician must have a high school diploma or GED, reliable transportation, and meet our background and driving requirements. This position requires at least 2 years' experience installing audio/video systems or other low voltage systems like satellite systems, infrastructure cabling, fiber, security systems, life safety systems and/or related telecommunications systems.

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well-organized
  • Strong customer service skills to deal with internal and external customers
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Outlook and Excel, and business applications
  • Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations
  • Must be able to read and effectively interpret business and technical documentation
  • Valid and current driver’s license

Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements:

  • Employee must regularly push, pull, lift, carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally push, pull, lift and carry heavier items
  • Employee is frequently required to drive, stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, reach, grasp, sit and use hands and fingers
  • Must be able to read color diagrams and drawings
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work on lifts and scaffolding
  • Must be able to work in dusty environments
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Accountability:

Audio Video Technician is accountable to the AV Field Installation Manager. Secondary accountability will be to the other management team members, employees, and customers of the company.
