The Assessment Services team is a unique department here at Gordian. They get the opportunity to travel to different work sites and assess a variety of different architectural buildings. The team members are highly collaborative to ensure our clients are prepared with detailed reports and analysis findings on their buildings. Under limited supervision (training will be provided) the Associate Facilities Consultant - Electrical will be responsible for performing visual inspections of facilities, related building systems, and preparing detailed reports and analysis on their findings for clients. You will primarily be working with our VFA.facility product. VFA helps with the capital planning process of budgeting resources for an organization’s long-term plan.
This role is a mix of remote-work and on-site consultancy throughout locations all over North America with occasional opportunities for international travel as well!
You will be working closely with your project manager to meet client requirements. This role has different avenues of growth with potential in specialization in mechanical, electrical, energy (or all) and project management. Gordian provides certifications towards facilities consultancy and will foster the growth of the right candidate towards their professional and personal development by assisting them with additional certifications (LEED, PMP, P.Eng, PE.).
Associate Facilities Consultant duties and responsibilities of the job
- Perform visual inspections of facilities and related building systems (electrical, mechanical and/or architectural) on a national and occasionally international basis. Inspections may include energy and or sustainability evaluations.
- Interact with client facilities management staff to ascertain necessary information.
- Interact with Project Managers and Architectural, Mechanical and Electrical engineers in support of their responsibilities
- Schedule, monitor, and communicate project progress with clients and your team.
- Assist with the data input and develop cost estimates for facilities replacement costs and/or corrective measures.
- Document findings using VFA’s web-based software, VFA facility and other software applications as necessary.
Associate Facilities Consultant job qualifications and requirements
- The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Candidates must possess a basic understanding of facilities engineering, operations, design, construction and/or facilities management (1-3 years of experience preferred, training will be provided).
- Candidates must possess beginner to intermediate level knowledge of building systems including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical systems and/or site utilities.
- Candidates must be technically inclined with a solid understanding of personal computers and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
- Candidates must possess exceptional attention to detail, specifically in accuracy of calculations and completeness of data collection and notation
- Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Professional etiquette
Essential Job Functions:
- The work performed in the field and at client sites requires the ability to lift objects up to 40 pounds and to regularly climb ladders and stairs in order to assess the various building systems (including roofing systems).

National: The salary range for this position is $49,100- $91,100
This position is also eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.
Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors, including, but not limited to: job-related knowledge; skills; experience; and other eligibility factors such as geographic location.
