Plans, organizes, directs, and/or controls all aspects of Stetson University’s sponsored projects based in DeLand and at the College of Law, including pre- and post-award management, compliance, contract negotiation, budgeting and disbursement, and monitoring and evaluation.Develops budgets for proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies.Provides contract/grant award agreement support in the negotiation and acceptance of federal, state, and foundation grant award agreements/contracts and other complex agreements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares, interprets, negotiates, and accepts agreements for projects funded by federal and state agencies, foundations and other public and private sources.
- Advises the Principal Investigator on achieving an effective, quality proposal and coordinates timely submissions, ensuring appropriate approvals.
- Manages the review of grant and contract awards terms and conditions and drafts and negotiates subaward terms and conditions with subawardees.
- Supervises Research Administration support staff.
- Reviews proposals for compliance and assists with negotiations and acceptance of resulting grant award agreements.
- Participates in negotiations with grant and contracting officers to substantiate budget requests and to secure terms and conditions consistent with policy.
- Manages and maintains the Grants Management System.
- Provides post-award financial administration and management for all research funds.
- Provides policy and procedure interpretation to academic departments and prepares specialized reports to federal and sponsoring agencies.
- Interprets regulations and guidelines of program funding for complex grants and contracts and prepares renewals and periodic reports for grant agencies.
- Reads and interprets contracts and other award documents to determine budget, invoicing schedule, restrictions, and other pertinent information.
- Interacts with sponsors, processes and approves, grant-related transactions, develops and maintains cost and financial projections, and provides with management reports
- Monitors final reporting requirements.
- Assists the Director of Grants Office as needed with agreement negotiation and sponsor relations;
- Provides training and assistance to PIs and Departments across the campus to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor policies;
- Provides peer leadership and feedback in the ongoing improvement of office services and works as a member of a highly qualified team of professionals dedicated to quality service and work product excellence.
Required Skills
Work Environment: This position will primarily be at the DeLand campus or in a remote setting.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience in grant and contract administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience with contracts, grant award agreements, subcontract/subaward review, negotiation and administration is preferred.
