Global Helium is seeking an Associate Director, Helium Bulk Operations to join our team located in Freeport, TX. The Associate Director of Helium Bulk Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of a helium processing, purification, and distribution site. The Associate Director (AD) must assemble and lead a high-performance team, driving deliverables around key measures including safety, quality, service, cost, employee growth and continuous improvement. The AD serves as a liaison between the production site, commercial sales teams, and corporate functions.
Responsibilities
The Associate Director, Helium Bulk Operations is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Direct responsibility and accountability for site personnel safety, capital assets, and the environment.
- Responsible for safety preparedness and training of all site personnel, overall Site Security and compliance with regulatory agencies including but not limited to Department of Homeland Security, local fire department and hazardous material response, local law enforcement, state and federal EPA, State and Federal OSHA, local Emergency Planning Commissions, municipal water and sewer authorities, local Industrial Park committees, related industry associations, etc.
- Lead and participate in global safety programs and initiatives, including but not limited to site safety, toolbox meetings, monthly safety meetings, safety standdown day.
- Responsible for timely handling and reporting of site incidents and near misses and managing personnel incidents.
- Direct responsibility for recruiting, developing, and leading the area operations team.
- Direct responsibility and accountability for efficient and on-time delivery of refined helium.
- Responsible for evaluating existing resources and procuring assets to support new business, including plant equipment and other consumables.
- Work with Asset and Product management to maximize fleet utilization
- Develops and ensures appropriate production planning and scheduling with local operations to achieve short- and long-term production demand.
- Must interface with the logistics team and planning personnel to establish production plan to meet customer demand.
- Direct accountability for quality of products produced in the facility and the facility quality system; visibly leads and demonstrates a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge and understanding to sustain the operation's ISO 9001 accreditations by maintaining the level of operational discipline where the team meets and exceeds the requirements associated with these accreditations.
- Develops a yearly capital budget for projects.
- Ensures timely and accurate processing of invoices to vendors and contractors.
- Communicates site and division performance to local personnel.
- Drive P&L performance by delivering profitable helium growth.
- Contribute to business unit productivity goals by identifying and driving helium related productivity initiatives locally.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technical Field
- 10+ years overall plant management experience
- 7+ years related industrial gases experience
- Communication and Collaboration skills - Both verbally and in writing with managers, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability and willingness to work in high pace environment, driven to achieve results
- Working knowledge of Hazardous Work Permits, Lock out Tag out, and Management of Change.
- OSHA Process Safety Management experience desired
- Experience controlling and monitoring plant operations' budgets
- Quality management experience in an environment with a focus on process control and continuous improvement, preferably in the ISO framework.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Willing and able to travel (< 20%)
