In this role, the Associate Build and Release Engineer is responsible for designing and developing applications that deliver integration and automation solutions across Alarm.com's infrastructure and applications stack throughout the entire life-cycle. As a B&R associate, you will serve as the primary liaison between Release Management, Engineering and Operations in the successful delivery of automation solutions and software deployment frameworks from inception, through development, into production and into maintenance stages. This position works closely alongside of Engineering, Quality Engineering, Operations and Release Management teams in the on-boarding of new, and existing life-safety and home automation applications to the cloud. This role works side-by-side with Engineering and Operations in all technical aspects of the Alarm.com cloud and applications with an ever-watchful eye on their availability, latency, performance, and capacity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Associate Build & Release Engineer's primary job responsibilities will include:
- Infrastructure management
- Create, decommission, and monitor Build and Release VMs / containers
- Create, delete, and update associated storage, secret management and deployment infrastructure
- CI/CD pipeline management
- Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools, integration, and automation
- Adopt GitOps principals in the CI/CD pipeline management
- Fulfill Build and Release operations
- Manage and monitor CI processes
- Responsible for major artifact creations and deployments
- Support engineer teams in trouble-shooting
- Handle emergencies when on the pager duty
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- BA/BS in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or related field preferred.
- 0-2 years' relevant work experience in software engineering or related fields
- Either have the experience or have an interest in Build and Release or DevOps
- Programming knowledge and experience in at least one of the following languages
- 1-2 years experience with writing code in Java / C# / C / C++
- 1-2 years experience with Bash or another shell script language '
- Be a self-starter capable and eager to take on small initiatives
- Strong verbal and written communication skills needed for daily technical communications and documentation tasks
