Job description

Release Management is crucial for handling software deployments and change initiatives. As a Release Manager, you will coordinate processes to enhance the quality, speed, and efficiency of software development. You will focus on understanding and driving initiatives around:

  • Business: Improve project delivery and strike a balance with risk mitigation.
  • Feature teams: Encourage communication and collaboration between technical teams, fostering accountability and curiosity.
  • Individuals: Collaborate with individuals to identify issues, propose solutions, and coach for success, while establishing processes for reproducible and reliable delivery.

To do this effectively you must have

  • Business acumen, with a deep understanding of human behavior and decision-making.
  • A solid technical foundation to comprehend and facilitate team discussions.
  • Strong desire for continuous learning, with curiosity to understand and track what is being done across numerous projects across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of Alarm.com's release process, becoming an SME, and collaborate with representatives from various teams to improve these processes and documentation.
  • Generate, maintain, and train employees on internal processes by creating training materials, and develop strategies for their adoption across the organization.
  • Coordinate response teams for critical failures and time-sensitive issues, and support teams in resolving issues and devising future mitigation plans for "at risk" projects.
  • Create, track, and visualize KPIs across the organization to identify necessary changes, and continuously refine dashboards to maintain high engagement.
  • Facilitate SDLC meetings to review processes, track progress, cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, and design proof-of-concept process implementations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline, computer science, math, physics or related field
  • Minimum two years' experience in product ownership or project management roles, including tangible evidence of successfully overseeing a project from inception to completion.
  • An initiative-driven individual with an exceptional work ethic, exhibiting reliability, resourcefulness, and outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Exhibits strong analytical skills for decision-making, complemented by basic coding and software testing proficiency.
  • Adept at managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to swiftly switch contexts, adapt to changing priorities, and resolve critical event escalations.
  • Experience with testing, project, and program management tools such as: Zephyr, JIRA, Structure, Confluence, Asana, Monday.com, Notion etc..
