Job Description
Xavier Law Firm is seeking a full-time bilingual (Spanish/English) attorney to join our firm. Two to Three years of experience is preferred, but we are willing to train a motivated and otherwise well-qualified candidate.
The candidate will focus on both immigration matters. Must possess strong interpersonal, administrative and organizational skills. Must have the ability to prioritize and manage workload; be proactive and team oriented.
Job Description: The ideal candidate will be able to:
· Provide professional representation to assigned clients;
· Attend hearings and appearances as scheduled;
· Provide support and leadership to assigned legal team;
· Evaluate cases and provide case strategies and/or solutions to legal issues;
· Perform legal research and prepare pleadings, propound discovery, prepare legal memoranda and/or briefs;
· Analyze facts, patterns and complex legal issues to provide sound legal advice;
· Prepare immigration-related filings to be submitted to government agencies and courts.
Qualifications
Skills and Abilities
· Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and persuasion skills;
· Knowledge and proficiency in basic typing skills and computer applications such as MS Office;
· Ability to handle a high-volume caseload, multiple deadlines, and other tasks simultaneously;
· Excellent organizational skills;
· Detail oriented;
· Ability to work with minimal supervision;
· Superior client service skills;
· Perform legal research and prepare legal memoranda and/or legal briefs;
· Analyze facts, patterns and complex legal issues to provide sound legal advice;
· Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
Required
· J.D. degree and must be licensed to practice law in the U.S;
· Admitted to practice law in Texas;
· Must be able to speak, read, and write Spanish fluently;
· Minimum of two years of experience in immigration law is required, but relevant experience as paralegal and/or legal assistant before obtaining law degree will also be considered.
Preferred
· Two years of experience in immigration and/or criminal law;
· Demonstrated multi-cultural skills and sensitivity;
· Experience working with immigrant community.
