Job Summary:
Our Assisted Living Director serves as the leader AL residents and staff. This position will lead and direct all care, services and programming ensuring exceptional quality of services while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations and the company's mission, values, procedures and standards.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:- Responsible for ensuring that all residents in our Assisted Living are assessed prior to residency and periodically with any significant change of condition or as required by state regulations, to ensure that the services assessed are delivered.
- Completes proper charting accurately and in a timely manner; performs other administrative duties related to resident care.
- Provide hands on care and specific nursing tasks as required in support of the residents care plan, periodically reviewing that the plan meets resident's specific level of support as required by state regulations.
- Holds employees accountable to clear performance expectations.
- Completes performance reviews and provides timely and effective feedback to employees. Takes appropriate action to address performance and attendance problems.
- Schedules appropriate staffing levels in department to meet facility needs.
- Sets high standards of excellence for meeting resident needs, builds and maintains relationships with residents, communicates with residents in a genuine manner using appropriate verbiage, and establishes good rapport with the residents.
- Assists physicians and reviews orders. Orders medications, maintains resident chart, receives and documents physician orders. Notifies physician and family of incidents or changes in condition of resident.
- Follows the American Nurse Association's Scope and Standard of Practice to ensure residents, families, and the public that the nursing care they receive is competent and up to date with the latest research; adheres to the Nursing Standards of Practice as a benchmark for nursing care standards.
- Maintains resident confidentiality and privacy; treats residents with kindness, dignity and respect; knows and complies with Residents Rights rules; and promptly reports all resident grievances to management.
- Understands and follows established Universal Precaution guidelines, infection control and safety rules; ensures cleanliness of assigned residents rooms; displays an awareness of cleanliness and proper maintenance at all drug carts to maintain a clean working environment; maintains a locked cart when unattended; reports hazardous conditions or equipment to the appropriate person; follows established safety rules, and fire and disaster procedures.
- Communicates with family members regarding condition and progress of residents, including in-person and answering of telephone inquiries taking into account the nature of the information.
- Requisitions necessary supplies to meet unit needs as well as ensure equipment is in good working order.
- Demonstrates high standards of excellence for meeting resident needs. Communicates effectively, establishes rapport and maintains relationships with residents.
- Ability and willingness to perform RN duties whenever and wherever required.
- Meets requirement of regular attendance to perform job duties which requires on-call hours and weekend rotations as needed at the Nursing Home for RN coverage.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- RN graduate from an accredited school of nursing required.
- 3 years of full-time supervisory/management nursing experienced preferred; 1 year minimum.
- Possesses the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Demonstrates leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
- State of Iowa RN by the Iowa Board of Nursing, required.
- CPR Certification, required.
- Assisted Living Management Certification, required (or willing to obtain upon hire.)
