NDSU Department of Animal Sciences and Central Grasslands Research Extension Center is looking for an individual who can perform the following.
Duties include:
- Contribute to all aspects of research related to reproduction and developmental programming in livestock. (experimental design, planning, scheduling of major project activities, grant document preparation, regulatory paperwork, abstracts, research reports, and all stages of manuscript preparation and submission, dissemination of data to producer and scientific communities)
- Perform data analysis on traditional research models and bioinformatic analysis of sequencing data (i.e. RNA-seq, miRNAseq, etc)
- Organize laboratory layout, equipment, workflow, SOPs, and other needs for newly developed cattle production laboratory at CGREC
- Develop appropriate procedures for new data collection, processing, and analysis techniques, write and maintain standard operating procedures
- Coordinate the regulatory, delivery, and processing workflow of samples with laboratories both at NDSU and other domestic and international laboratories and assist with workflow as needed
- Develop and coordinate physical and electronic systems to promote accessibility of project-related documents to project participants
- Organize, synthesize, and analyze production records for a commercial herd of beef cattle (consisting of approximately 450 breeding age cows and all associated young stock). Develop system to track inventories and standardize necessary and appropriate data collection at key physiological stages
- Work outside of university hours and at multiple research and training locations as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- M.S. in Animal Science or related field
- Documented experience with the analysis of large datasets
- Experience with sample collection in large animal research models
- Experience with project management and personnel training
- Experience with scientific writing in the field of Animal Science
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
- Ability to effectively work both independently and as a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in Animal Science or veterinary medicine
- Experience developing laboratory layout, equipment calibration and optimization, and writing/maintaining standard operating procedures
- 10+ years of project management and personnel training and mentoring experience
- 10+ years of data analysis experience
Salary:
- $50,000+ depending on experience
