Description:Superior Tire Service invites you to join our award-winning team. We are looking to hire an individual who is passionate about supporting our dedication to increase the quality of service for our customers while upholding our commitment to quality and safety.
What will you do as the Assistant Retail Tire Manager?
§ Assist the Retail Manager in the daily operational duties within the retail store.
§ Functions as both a Retail Tire Technician and Assistant Retail Manager
§ Mechanical aptitude to successfully work as a tire technician, without further training.
§ Perform tire safety and wear assessments, flat tire repairs, and air pressure service as required.
§ Dismount, rotate, and mount/re-mount tires for inspection, installation, and repair.
§ Perform wheel service to include bolting and unbolting, installation, removal, and service as required.
§ Operate and utilize power tools, compressed air tools, manual tools to include lug wrenches as required adhering to our rigorous safety standards.
§ Operate balancing machines, determining the required counterweighting to balance the wheel. Use of hammers to install the counterweights into wheels as required.
§ Raise and lower vehicles utilizing hydraulic jack machines.
§ Valve stem replacement and repair, removal of foreign objects from the tire/wheel, visual inspection of tubeless tires, submersion of tubeless tires into water baths, ad hoc repairs as required.
§ Fleet: Tire inspections, bump checks, and recommendations for service and repair to ensure both quality and safety standards.
§ Ensure consistent and high-quality customer experiences.
§ Ensure the needs of the customers and employees are addressed and met in a timely, objective manner.
§ Maintain a quality, quick, and efficient service level.
§ Practical and competent complaint query, research, and resolution.
§ High level of ethical decision-making standards.
§ Self-starter and work in tandem with the Retail Store Manager
§ Administrative reporting and support, including monthly inventory, compliance, scheduling, retail merchandising, OSHA, financials, and ad hoc as required.
§ Support leadership, Finance, and Human Resources in employee engagement, safety reporting, time keeping, and reporting.
§ Develop strong working relationships with local community members & organizations, customers, and employees.
§ Assists store manager with the performance of their responsibilities. Assumes responsibility for the store in store manager’s absence.
§ Maintains a professional image, adheres to dress standards for all members of staff.
§ Delivers superior levels of customer service including greeting incoming customers and answering telephone calls.
§ Answers customer inquiries and complaints in an efficient and courteous manner.
§ Determines individual customer needs for products and service repairs.
§ Sales: Tires, service repairs, maintenance services, and accessories in line with Superior Tire Service’s best practice standards and the customer’s needs.
§ Provides quotes for all Superior Tire Service’s retail products and services.
§ Schedules all retail work/jobs within realistic time parameters for both the company’s and the customer’s needs.
§ Open and close the retail store in line with established policies and procedures.
§ Locks and secures the building and adheres to all financial and reporting procedures.
§ Maintains professional standards, safety protocols, retail refreshments, and cleanliness of customer lounge, including restrooms and employee break areas.
§ Ensures the retail customer lounge and shop are clean, safe, and professional, in line with STS’ and OSHA standards.
§ Various visual merchandising tasks as directed by leadership.
§ Supports the daily receivables and monthly tire inventory processes.
§ Drive sales and service standards in line with Company targets.
§ Attends all meetings as required.
§ Participates and successfully completes all on-going technical training.
§ Continued learning assignments to increase their knowledge base.

Supervisory Requirements:*
§ Support the Store Manager in the supervision of all employees within the cost center.
§ Assumes the Retail Store Manager’s responsibilities in their absence.
Required Qualifications:
§ Ethical, service-driven customer service standards.
§ Successfully complete the pre-employment screening: 7-year background check and drug test in line with the State of Oregon’s best practice standards.
§ Self-starter & Critical thinking aptitude.
§ Ability to multi-task.
§ Valid driver’s license and clean driving record/insurable to STS’ insurance requirements.
§ 3-5 years of retail, automotive, and/or tire experience.
§ Literacy and fluency in Spanish (desirable).
§ Ability to use OBD2, TPMS, scan tools etc.
Mental and Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
§ Read, write, and understand written instructions, e-mail, mailings, texts, and correspondence.
§ Present in one-on-one and small group situations, including customers, clients, and co-workers.
§ Math: Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
§ Effectively use and make accurate cash change from the POS system.
§ Strong “common sense understanding” to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
§ Required to stand for prolonged periods of time, talk, hear, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
§ Ability to safely lift 50 pounds unassisted.
§ Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions and vibrations.
Location and Hours:
Salem-based retail location, 4230 27th Court SE, Salem, Oregon 97302.
Retail operational hours:
Monday-Friday 8:00am – 5:30pm
Saturday – 8:00am – 2:00pm
Sunday – Closed
Working Hours: Full Time, Forty (40) hours per week.
Travel: Less than 10%, store based, ad hoc as required
Pay and Status:
Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt Hourly, Benefit Eligible.
Pay: $25.00-$27.00 per hour, full-time non-exempt, plus manager’s bonus eligible, benefits, Paid Time Off, holidays, 401K, employee discount and account, and more.
