George Fox University's Department of Kinesiology announces a Tenure Track faculty position to begin in August 2024. They are seeking a faculty member who is enthusiastic about providing engaging and effective instruction and mentoring to undergraduate students. The ideal candidate will have experience with classroom, clinical, and remote instruction. Further, experience with research and academic advising is highly valued.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching a full-time UG Kinesiology course load for Fall and Spring semesters (Tenure: 24 credits, 9 month contract)
  • Maintaining a high standard in classroom teaching through engaging and effective instruction. Remain current with topics, curriculum, and resources relevant to the Kinesiology discipline.
  • Investing in scholarship that contributes to the advancement of Exercise Science within the broader healthcare system. Able to model, mentor, involve, and engage UG students in this work.
  • Participating in the work of the department and the university, including advising, curriculum and program development and serving on University committees as needed.
  • Developing and maintaining professional working relationships with healthcare agency professionals and other campus educators.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
  • Other duties as assigned.

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • A Doctoral degree in Kinesiology field; Master of Science in Kinesiology related field considered.
  • A strong passion for research and ongoing evidence of collaboration and UG student opportunity for involvement with it.
  • Three years of teaching experience in a higher education institution is preferred.
  • Excellent professional, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • A commitment to maintaining consistently high professional standards.
  • The ability to work effectively within and embrace working with a growing, innovative team.
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Salary and rank:

  • Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.

Job information:

  • Primary Work Location: Newberg Campus
    • This is a resident / in-person faculty position.
  • Working Conditions: Physical requirements are similar to those of teaching and clinical environments.
