Position Summary
The UNM-Valencia Humanities Division is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Film & Digital Media Arts (FDMA), which is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position. The position begins August 14, 2023.
Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico-Valencia is a two-year branch community college associated with the University of New Mexico. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia offers vocational and technical courses as well as academic transfer courses to the citizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of approximately 2,000 each semester.
Salary: Base salary for nine-month faculty position is $57,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Summer teaching is possible and optional with additional compensation. An excellent package of benefits is provided.
Provide 15 credit hours of classroom instruction per semester, primarily core courses in Film & Digital Media Arts (FDMA), including 100 and 200-level Film & Digital Media Arts courses such as, but not limited to, Film Studies, Cinematography, Directing, & Film Production. Responsibilities include maintaining attendance, scholastic, and student records, as well as posting and maintaining office hours as per UNM-Valencia policy. Also, there is expected participation in college committees, curriculum development initiatives, outcomes assessment, the dual credit program, scholarly work (related to teaching field or area of expertise), classroom technology training, the film festival, departmental projects, and other areas of service and scholarship, as appropriate.

• MFA in Film and Digital Media
• Two years of successful teaching experience in film and digital media at the college level
• One year of successful teaching experience in film and digital media at the community college level
• Experience teaching online courses
• Demonstrated professional development, such as attending workshops or conferences, presenting about film and digital media, or creative work
• Experience with curriculum development and/or assessment
A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities

Qualifications

- Master's Degree in Film, or related field
- One year of successful teaching experience in film and digital media at the college level
- One year of professional on set industry experience
- Three years of proficiency of industry standard post-production tools and software, such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro
Preferred Qualifications
• MFA in Film and Digital Media
• Two years of successful teaching experience in film and digital media at the college level
• One year of successful teaching experience in film and digital media at the community college level
