Position Summary
The Department of Psychology at The University of New Mexico (UNM) invites applications for a Multicultural Psychologist position at an Assistant Professor level for a full-time, tenure-track appointment in the clinical psychology area. Candidates must have completed a doctoral degree in Clinical, Counseling or Community Psychology from an APA/CPA/PCSAS accredited program at the start date of appointment. In addition, minimum qualifications for this position are an APA/CPA approved clinical or counseling psychology internship, and evidence of clinical training with a focus on diverse clientele and clinically-related scholarship with diverse populations. Preferred qualifications include: 1) research experience, 2) evidence of teaching experience broadly defined as teaching undergraduate or graduate courses, workshops, trainings, or teaching assistantships, 3) a demonstrated potential for research funding, and 4) a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
We seek a highly committed, license eligible Psychologist who is determined to contribute to the research and teaching missions in the areas of multicultural and cultural psychology. Successful candidates for this position will be expected to teach and mentor at the undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral levels. The UNM Department of Psychology, which currently includes 27 tenure-track faculty and 76 Ph.D. students, has internationally recognized research programs. External research grants exceeded $8 million in funding last year. The department has established a Diversity/Multicultural Psychology Emphasis and offers several Diversity/Multicultural services and organizations, including a doctoral student diversity organization, a Cultural Counseling Center, a Faculty Diversity Committee, and a Diversity Resources shared folder (see https://psych.unm.edu/graduate/programs-of-study/diversitymulticultural-psychology.html)
The successful candidate will have numerous opportunities for collaboration within the department and in thriving cross-disciplinary research centers affiliated with UNM, including the Center on Alcohol, Substance use and Additions (CASAA); Transdisciplinary Research, Equity, and Engagement Center for Health Disparities; Center for Health Policy at UNM; Center for Participatory Research; Division of Community Behavioral Health; Mind Research Network; Psychology Clinical Neuroscience Center; New Mexico Alcohol Research Center; Brain and Behavioral Health Institute; College of Population Health; UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center; UNM Memory and Aging Center, UNM Center for Brain Recovery and Repair; and UNM Nene and Jamie Koch Comprehensive Movement Disorder Center. The UNM Main and Health Sciences Center campuses are adjacent to one another facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Doctoral degree in Clinical, Counseling or Community Psychology from an APA/CPA/PCSAS accredited program or a related field by start date of appointment (August 1, 2023);
2. Completed an APA/CPA approved clinical or counseling psychology internship;
3. At least 6 months of completed supervised clinical training with a focus on diverse clientele
4. At least one peer-reviewed publication or dissertation focusing primarily on a diverse population relating to mental or behavioral health care and well-being
Preferred Qualifications:
1. A demonstrated research experience, as evidenced by publications and ongoing research in multicultural psychology broadly defined as evidenced through the submitted CV, cover letter, diversity statement and/or letters of recommendation
2. A demonstrated teaching experience broadly defined as teaching undergraduate or graduate courses, workshops, trainings, or teaching assistantships as evidenced through the submitted CV, teaching portfolio, cover letter and/or letters of recommendation.
3. A demonstrated potential for research funding as evidenced through the submitted CV, and/or letters of recommendation.
4. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities as evidenced through the submitted CV, diversity statement, and/or letters of recommendation.
